Hi everyone. First time poster but constant browser.

Recently developed the common fault of the air blower not working on my 59 plate fiat punto grande.

Looking through related threads I suspected that the problem lied within the resistor block and/or loom. I checked these and found no visual faults but replaced anyway to no avail.

Before bringing it to the shop I decided I'd check the fuse but was unable to find the exact number in the user manual. The closest I found was fuse 10 on the dashboard (INT power supply for switch on break pedal (NC contacts), switch on clutch pedal, interior heater unit, convergence control unit, car radio preparation system.)

Is this the correct fuse? I have no problem with anything else in the car and that fuse seems to impact several systems.

Finally, if the fuse is not the fault am I to assume that the fan motor itself has gone? is this doable myself and how much would it cost at a shop?

Thanks for your help.

No direct experience of this myself (yet!) but the following may be helpful (if you've not already found them):

The Heater FAQ

Heater Fan Removal Guide

For the fuse, in the earlier GP's ("s1 model") it was F18 in the engine compartment fuse box (40A) as shown in this wiring diagram. However sounds like you have a later model. The description you quote for dashboard fuse 10 (7.5A) is the only one I can find in the handbook relating to heating. This post and this post agree but this post suggests fuse 2 in the engine compartment is the one to check?

If not working on full, speed then possibly motor, check feeds to resistor pack.
Connect direct feed to motor + & - if motor good should work.
Looks easy to drop motor down and bench tested.
Found with fuses check them all with test light best way forward.
Make sure terminal on resistor

"I suspected that the problem lied within the resistor block and/or loom. I checked these and found no visual faults but replaced anyway to no avail."
What exactly did you replace? Are you getting power to the motor? The connector to the actual motor can overheat and burn the connections. If you have replaced the resistor and the wiring loom connector you need to check if you are getting power there in the first place, if you are then you need to check the motor, if not then start with the feed to the blower, No point in throwing random parts at a problem to try and fix it, You need to find the problem first.

Make sure you get the EXACT like for like replacement. I didn't. It looked and was identical but didn't work. Got the exact same one and everything worked fine. Get the number off the old one and go Ebay hunting.

i have this problem, initially the only the 3rd speed do not work, then 1st and 2nd speed. the 4th speed still works.

the workshop said i need to purchase the reisitor. i already purchased but i dont dare to go to the same workshop as previously when i send the care to replace the cooling coil, it damage my heater piping. now my heater only half hot.

any photo show where is the location of the resistor.

thanks

ok found the location on the above post
