Hi guys, basically i bought my fiat punto active 56 plate with the stereo having a dead display. it plays only sam smith songs (from a CD that won't come out) and none of the buttons work (hence why the cd doesn't come out) . I've bought a sony stereo from halfords hoping that it would fix the problem. just wondering if anyone here knows about the problem at hand and also if the stereo will fit on my car. Cheers
the stereo is a sony DSX-A200UI from halfords

Yes, a standard "DIN-sized" stereo will fit, but to make it look nice, you'll need to buy an adapter plate because the factory one is sculpted to look like part of the dash. You'll also possibly need an adapter harness that plugs into the back of your new stereo at one end and I to the original Fiat connectors at the other. The radio controls on your steering wheel will probably no longer work though.

Hi, Im not so worried about whether the radio will fit than if the electronics on the new radio would work. Also i should mention that the buttons on the steering wheel did not work when i bought the car either. Also would you know whether an FM transmitter of some sort will work even though the display is dead?

If the buttons won't work then an fm transmitter wouldn't as you need to tune the radio into the frequency that the transmitter is broadcasting on.. If you can tune your radio then the transmitter should work..

Ah right, do you reckon that even if all those aren't working, then a new radio would fix the problem?

Yes, it should fiix everything except the steering wheel buttons (unless you have some electrical fault in the feed to the original radio).
