Right so heres my problem. My fiat grande punto 2007 1.4sport will not start from the key. One random day i went to start it after work and nothing, i put a power pack on it thinking it wAs a flat battery and still nothing, so i bumped it and it was fine. I then drove it for 20 mins went to the shops turned it off and it wouldnt start again! So i bumped it again but this time the electrics were going crazy the speedo was going up and down when i was at a normal speed, the tempature was going up and like crazy, the power steering light stayed on all the lights on the dash like engine abs etc. and the car was jolting abit like nearly dying but it didnt. I then went to miami for a month came back yesterday and took it to the garage i had to bump it but the electrics were fine this time. When i turn the key nothing happend like no turn over, the electrics work but nothing from the key just the odd clicking noise then stops

When you say it wouldn't start ,do you mean it spun over and never fired ,or it never spun over ??

It wont spin over atall like no attempt. Just clicks sometimes thats it. Thanks for response!

if it is just clicking ,then it may be 1 flat battery, cause of flat battery ? possibly battery is duff ,or it isn,t charging ,then possibly alternator ..I would put my money on the starter motor being kaput..Switch on your headlamps if they are bright, then the battery could be ok,now with an assistant watching the ligts hold the key on start ,,if they go dim batt is flat ,if the stay bright starter is duff

Have you checked the battery?

Does it start if jump leads are used?

How old is the battery and have you checked the volts with a multimeter?
When ive attached jump leads it doesnt start but clicks more when i turn the key. Ive not checked the battery but im sure it cant be down to just that as the lights on the dash were all on like electric fault

Hey

Sorry for the delay

If memory serves me correctly its the two middle red relays, The dealer wanted £20+ each for them but I got mine for £5 each off ebay and I never had a issue after that.

You can do the job yourself the fuse box is located on the passenger side of the engine bay and its only two clips to remove the cover and you just gentley wiggle and pull the relay out and then just pop the new one in

Got back from the garage monday. The starter motor was dead and had some corrosion on leads. £120 not bad right? Thanks for the help
