I am currently looking at having my grande punto sporting 1.9 mjet given its first major service. Are all the parts listed below everything i need? I had my brake pads all changed last week as they needed doing to.

• Pollen/oil/air/fuel filters
• Water Pump
• Drive belt (my understanding is this is the aux belt?)
• Timing belt/kit
• Oil change
• Brake fluid change
• Glow plugs? (which are alot dearer than i expected)

If i have missed or do not need anything please list in your reply. Thanks in advance.

Think you've covered most of it, no need to change glow plugs as a service item unless you are struggling with cold starts.

Thanks stephano will get the part ordered and ready to be changed, the glow plugs I'll leave and change if they start to struggle, only had them changed about 2 years ago anyway. Pain when service, tax and MOT all come at the same time right after Christmas and 5 family birthdays

Also is fuel filter really needed at 5 years / 44k which my car currently is or would that be fine waiting like the glow plugs?
If so do i need to look out for anything to indicate it needs changing?

Yeah not a cheap do at all!

I cant remember the exact intervals for change on fuel filter, but i think its something daft like 50 or 60k miles. Ive just changed mine, better safe than sorry!

If you're doing a major service anyway then you may as well change the fuel filter, they're usually cheap enough that it's silly not to change them. Agree with leaving the glow plugs out until it becomes necessary.

The fuel filter's arent cheap...Best part of £40..but like you say worth changing of your doing the other filters

I guess I'm used to Cento prices

I was getting all the parts from euro car parts and there is a 25% off offer on servicing parts at the moment. Essentially i got the fuel filter for free from what i saved in the end, so win win and worth a look if anyone else is looking to buy the parts for a near future service.

Good deal then....what cam belt kit did you go for?

I went for the Dayco one, the start price was around the same but this one was reduced to £70 for the kit.

No really hasn't been worth it. Completely standard 1.9 mjet in gray at the moment. Any time i have wanted to spend money on it something else has come up. but still may start one at some point.
