Recently my car has been doing a rather weird thing where sometimes at low revs it kind of judders as if for 1 second ive come off the throttle and back on. does it randomly. Only ever at low revs and under very little power. What the hell is it?

The only think i could think of was dirty injectors so I did a full tank of fuel with Red-ex in and i thought it went away but now seems to be back.

I might be mad but im sure its worse when its raining or really wet out.]

suggestions?

if its when your not accelerating (ie, foot off accelerator), could be an idle control valve issue, the mk2 punto used to suffer a similar problem. If not, could be the maf sensor?

It is when im accelerating but very gently, seems to be worst in second gear just accelerating very gently at low revs, feels just like I've taken my foot off the accelerator for 1 second then back on.

Beany i have the same problem like you!I went to the dealer many times, they drove the car and saw what is wrong and they couldn't find what was causing it.The answer they gave me: Those cars are all ellectronics. If there is a problem it will come up on the dash screen!!!Thats it!I still live with that!

Its going to be EGR or a sensor sending bad info to the ECU Beany.... just the simple matter of finding out which one...

But I agree with the poster who mentioned connectors that may be getting wet up there in Waterworld...

stick some BP or Shell Super diesel in, mine has the same problem when run on standard diesel for a while.Red ex just makes it sound like a truck and the super stuff does the same job.once u put super in red line in on full throttle through 2nd 3rd and 4th and it will get rid of all the crap!works for mine, plus super makes it sound better.....

I have some sympathy with this Post... not sure about it but....

After 54,000 miles I have had NO EGR ISSUES even after a re-map at 32,000 miles.

I only EVER use Shell diesel Extra (not the overpriced snake oil though)

With your milage ffoxy (ive done 42k) You might want to take it off to give it a good clean, not the easiest job in the world but certainly not the hardest, just fiddly. Mine was so coked up I was expecting Fred Dibnah to pop out at any time, pocket watch in hand!

Its on my "to do" list mate but its running really well still so no urgency yet.

When the car is in for the first service (30.000 klm), isn't the EGR supposed to be cleaned?

Had the same prob with flatspots on my mjet, took it to the dealers and they said it was an airflow meter fault, replaced it, job done, now works fine.

No it isnt but it should be... would we be prepared to pay for that annually though?
