Nah its too late to bring that one out. They should replace them under warrenty as you wouldnt expect a starter to pack up within warrenty from "normal" use.

yes had the head fiat bloke out at the dealership and he says its a starter moter issue and not sending right charge something like that ...

? How did he explain the starter motor works all-day-&-every-day but not first sparrows cough?

prolly so
im trying to find a list of whats covered by the 3rd year warrenty not haveing much luck
internets not helping much

no i exsplained to him the car is like dead on a cold start and takes several attempts/ or mins like this morning but once fired up its ok for an hour.
asked so i why its ok when fired up turn of turn on ect he said the startermotor would have charge in it still.

Just read treadstone's thread (Non starts when cold) & that seems to fit with the problem (certainly mine) ... put down to an air temp sensor fault.

yes i asked about the map sensor /air temp and he said no if its dead when starting it cant be that. you,d hear a chugging noise or so like it was trying to start.
examiner should also pick up the map sensor /air temp ive been told

GP 1.2/8v 56(2006Dec) 25K ml & having similar experience since the cold snap. Always fires 1st time but won't hold any revs - have to start-over 4/5 times with some throttle tickle (outside of starting guidelines) before holding revs ... it's like there is no auto-choke(?) Temp dial zooms to max then back to around 1/8th from cold. No problem later in the day.

deff sounds like false air temp signal...if you start it & touch the gas it cuts out yeah?

Thanks for your input T14086 - some frost this morning & took 6/7 attempts to hold any revs. Engine won't start under handbook guidelines (ignition > pause > clutch > no throttle > etc.) & will only maintain revs with some throttle & then runs OK. It’s like retro manual choke days & trying to start-up without choke. Temp dial does not show `zero' from cold - but just short of the 1/8th mark. Have previously had mxrevelation's "chugging" - but switched-off (as didn't know if this would cause another problem) & re-started. This morning also noticed a brief (half-a-second) static crackle from dash panel (?) when starting. Is the air temp sensor a separate replaceable element or part of some other kit?

i didnt have any turnover atall Caravadossi no engine start and intermittent. dash light up but failed start. so no chugging noise

they now say its wireing/loose connection or fuse /ampage issue and not the starter moter ?
because its intermittent they still need more test and failures to be sure. they may have fixed the problem already they say by removing fuse boxes ect.
they didnt mention the power steering failure and like a idiot i forgot to ask, was more interested if 3rd year warrenty covered cost.

anyone know whats covered in 3rd year its a bit sketchy like official secrets act i cant find a list anywhere just a summery.
may have car back tommorow ? ill keep you posted

any news or progress mate?

yes think its been resolved now
apparently the car was randomly not starting, is to due to the under bonnet fuse box, that was slightly corroded, hence contacts with fuse,s and terminals was corroded, they say it was affecting the power steering warning light to malfuntion ? im not 100% sure if this is the problem they seem addament it is.
best of all its covered under warrenty.

now heres the moan part if the part and fitting is covered in the 3rd year warrenty
why am i out of pocket with no sight of reinburstment from the dealer or fiat ?
£70.00 to be put on the examiner
£50.00 for 5 days of insurance for a courtesy car from dealer

i feel ripped off to be honest !
is it a 3 year warrenty or what ? i shouldnt bear no cost what so ever in my opinion the dealer should be able to claim everything from fiat due to faulty goods ect or whats the point in a 3rd year warrenty.
thinking of selling it now and getting a hyundi or kia ceed one with a real warrenty not to sure about that bit yet
maybe its not the car im upset about maybe its the dealer.

cant blame the dealer why should they work for nothing, its the 3rd year warranty company (not Fiat) that you should direct your annoyance towards.

kia/hyundai......not sure about this one, the recession has now started to hit the East hard and promising that length of warranty IMO is...well dodgy? Daewoo tried something similar......just need to wait & see I guess, but who keeps a car for 5 years?

3rd year warranty company ?
that reminds me ive read about this
is it the finance company that gives it a extra year ?
if thats the case why does the dealer say ill ring fiat to see if the parts covered i really dont get this 3rd year this its weired
only reason im looking into kia/hyundai is the warrenty its a hmm apparently a no quibble warrenty
5 years and 7 or 100,000 miles which ever comes first, and if the car is in good working order ect wife would prolly run it into the ground.
i agree the dealers have to make money they appear in the middle like me.
bet if i really wanted to make an issue out of it i could recover all cost, ill just be glad to get her car back. and move on

Then they are 'technically' wrong, garage doesn't ring Fiat, the claim details are sent electronically too (I think its) mastercare who authorise/reject the work straight away.

Most garages make the customer aware that there might be a charge depending on the fault found. In your case I would personally say no charge but terms are different garage to garage, any other garages local?

probably are t14086
and yes they did say email forgot
the thing that pisses me off the most is this when we first took it in to the dealer they clearly said that
the examiner was refundable if fiat state there liable under warrenty ? (the part is covered)
so they have and they have ordered the part , now they have changed there tune and say were not entitled to reinburstment
and us having to fork out for £10.00 aday insurance x 5 days for a curtiosy car to boot on top (all this should be covered in my opinion in a warrenty when fault/blame is found)

thx for helping anyway t14086 i think ill stop moaning about it cough up and hope all is well.
if anything drastic happens with this warrenty/ repair lol
i still cant get it out of my head how under warrenty = im out of pocket :ROFLMAO:
night

This is a side question, but does the cover you usually get to drive other cars with fully-comp insurance not cover courtesy cars?

yes it will, the dealer will have courtesy cars insured to any driver tis just another way of making money. yes i agree they should be able to make money but not through warrentys.
rip off britain m8

going to ring car care up or master care whom ever it is the insurer and find out later in the week.
just to see what they say
as it stands we have paid £120.00 at the moment which isnt a massive amount but its the princible of the whole thing. im sure if i offered you 120.00 you wouldnt refuse it lol, plus the whole ordeal isnt over yet perhaps it isnt the fuse box ? .
although unlikely how do i know the dealer hasnt claimed £70.00 from them for the examiner aswell.
ill let you know.
the part there replaceing is covered the dealer states.
the dealer states they dont get paid for fault finding by the insurer only fixing it, if the part is covered?
is this true ?.
