I had front pad chamfered because of the brake squealing two months ago. But the squealings apeared again after two weeks. :bang:

I sent my car to the garage three weeks ago, after the technician drove my car back and told me there was no squealing at all. When I tested my car together with him, squealing disappeared. In the next morning, squealings came back and were getting worse. The kind dealer told me I may send the car back to the garage at any time. In Friday (9th of Januray) afternoon, another technician tested the car, heard the problem and changed two pads. And I was told do not use the brake hardly before 500 km. One week later, squealings come again, but better than three weeks ago. I have tried to use brake as less and slight as possible. What should I do?

Before the technician installed the new pads, he chamfered the new pads. So they know what the problem is.

The older pads were made of a harder material I think which caused a aqueek. They literally just need to put in new pads with the diff material and it's problem solved!

squealing came back and even more

I have mt brake pads changed several weeks ago: https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/177645-front-pads-changed.html

Unfortunately, squealings came back again. And even when I changed the directions, I may heard slight squealings without bracking. Last Thursday, when I parked the car in the morning after half hour driving, there was very big quealing. But when I sent my car to the garage in the afternoon, suealing disapperared. Technicien would not do anything checking. These days, squealing came frequently. How should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Re: squealing came back and even more

My do the same mate specially when im reversing. I took my car for its first service and all they did was clean them, as soon as I got my car home it started again:mad:. im gonna get some ebc green stuff pads the fiat ones are good but the squealing problem is a sh**** :bang:

Re: squealing came back and even more

Does it do it when youve been driving a while... I think because its that cold the brakes are solid so hence the squealing. Its the most common problem with the GP brakes is its squealing. Turn the radio up then you wont hear it! lol

Re: squealing came back and even more

Exactly! It also seems relavent to the temperature. I think, why it is better in the afternoon because of the warmer weather.

But anyhow, if it does not happened in other brand cars, it is not high technology to solve. Am I correct?

Re: squealing came back and even more

It sort of is... like the electronics. But if you can stop your car then thats the main thing. I get it and its 2 yrs old. Still got plenty of brake left as I use the gears to slow me down. But when ive been driving a while the brakes warm up and the squeals gone.

Re: squealing came back and even more

But why squealing (slightly) when I turned, such as in round about?

Re: squealing came back and even more

My problem came after half hour driving! The car has been warmed up already, hasn't it?

Re: squealing came back and even more

Mine dont squeel in the cold, only in the warm! Just a little squeel and same as they always have. Did have the whale moan when braking in reverse when I first had the car, but dealer fixed that and it hasnt come back at all.

42,000 miles now on the original pads and discs! No complaints from me.

Re: squealing came back and even more

i have recently found my car doing the same thing! I am taking it to the garage on Saturday but from what you have said on here I am thinking not much will be solved!!
