Tyres i run are 195/45/14's think i can get a couple of part worns fairly cheaply, im sticking with the Falkens i think, they really work brilliantly with my setup, if theres any about, awesome :D

im free next saturday all day, i can maybe do early starts but im not a morning person hahaha

weathers not so much of a problem, could always work on your engine at the garage if it was dodgy.

aye, cheers ramps would be awesome :D im not sure how much work will be needed on the back brakes tbh, i know the cable is very suspect and needs changed anyway, but im not 100% confident the adjusters are working right, they felt a bit odd when i had a poke about with them last, if they need stripped, im up **** creek tbh. the back wheels are both sufferers of locking wheelnut-itis. the only wheel i can get off is the one i know i defo need off

under the car i think i'll give it a quick going over/clean up anyway while im under, it'll impress mr mot man ;)

forgot to mention aswell, i've got 5 litres of mobil oil for an oil change before mot aswell, must get new filter....the list grows and grows :p

just bought a new headlamp plug aswell, one less thing to buy :D

as for the underneath just get a nice fresh can of underseal as i have done on the seicento makes it look miles better with fresh undersealer and a bit more piece of mind if your not up to anything today can do a quick start as girlfriend is going out later :D

turbo can still be added later main focus is getting the car back up and running reliably for the turbo idea :)

It's still on the agenda, i just wanted to get the car mot able again before taking it to another stage

It was very very rough in all aspects, so well worth tidying up so theres a decent base to work from. Most of the work is non engine related, just the hg and exhaust to be done running wise, so it made sense to just do them as a stop gap.

He's at the "brought the car then blew it up stage" :p

Ming

indeed, lol

but the blow it up bit wasn't my fault, it was poor workmanship/bodges from the previous owner ;)

im even having to fill my boot floor becuase he'd drilled holes straight through to mount an amp.

if i get a good solid car with all the mods for the turbo bar the turbo and management itself on the go, it will allow scope for just concentrating on doing that rather than undoing all the mess at a later date

ahhh. saw this car and it looked very tidy tbh... lol.

and reading through it seems as though things started breaking when you got it (fair enough) but it was continued to be driven (obviously if needs must) but is the previous owner completely to blame???

anyways do you think it will be pretty much a good stable base? looks good aslong as its maintained :)

no denying it did look tidy, the head gasket was replaced before i got it then blew a few months later again.

doing the HG i found out there was bits of old gasket that hadn't been cleaned off so it was effectivley running with one and a quarter head gaskets, the new gasket had been slapped in on top of bits of old and obviously couldn't get a proper seating, hence why it blew only a few months after getting done. it was a miracle it lasted as long as it did tbh, i would say that was who did the gaskets fault ;)

The gearbox mount, fair enough, they go,not anyones fault, same with the cv joint.

the exhaust? reminds me, i need to take a picture of the fact a spacer wasn't used!, holes in the boot floor? a sound system so badly wired up it was shorting off the back seat? that's the crux of the problems, i certainly never caused any of them by driving it through issues.

i don't blame the previous owner for all the issues, but a fair number could well have been avoided if things were done properly

but yes, it will make a very solid base, that's why i have kept it. deep down i know it's an excellent example njust needing rough edges smoothed out, in doing so i will make it an even better example :)

aye not pointing fingres not my style but im just saying what i read lol.

hope its all well for you anyways and that you will be able to keep up when its all done! :p :p lmfao. (o/j)

in all seriousness should be a nice car when its done!

as long as it last longer than it did when he first got it i think he would consider it a success :D

well, bit more done this evening :) none of the parts i've ordered have arrived, seemingly our postie has visited bermuda for his holidays and nobody has had mail now for 4 days! :(

went up anyway to fault find :) in the process i have found a new job that should be so simple a monkey could do it.....but turns out so difficult you need an astro physics degree to even attempt to do it, not on the cinq though, on the bmw.

i had to jump start the cinq so i could check the manifold joint had sealed, so, simple job, push cinq out garage, park bmw next to it, open bonnets of both, connect jump leads, bingo!...ermmm nope. the battery is in the boot, no bother i think, should still be easy to get to....ermmmm, nope. you have to take apart the interior of the rear almost! so, contents of boot out, boot floor removed, all tools removed, rear light covers removed, side boot hatch removed, false hatch door removed, battery cover off, industrial strength battery clamp off bingo....over half an hour to get to a battery ffs. anyway jump leads on, cinq fires up first time, hurrah! :D

jesus though, what a racket, the exhaust (which always has been quite close to the heatshield) was rattling off it so hard it was drowning out the engine and exhaust note!, then i notice bellows of smoke coming from the engine bay..... bugger. a quick look and it wasn't quite as bad as first thought, just a bit of smoke escaping from 1 bolt hole, so sealed it up, problem solved, all gasses now coming out the tailpipe just like it's meant to :)

jacked car up, stuffed a bit of old exhaust hanger in to quieten it down until i can realign it or wrap it to stop the metal hitting metal.

BUT then there was problems!, misfire......seems the cinq has decided in it's sleep that it fancies being a rally car, held at a fast idle the engine felt a bit fluttery and there was all sorts of strange pops and farts going on at the back, hmmm, very strange, it's perfect at idle and high revs, just that fast idle speed, i just put it down to not much running and hope it clears...so ran up to temperature, and it did! :D instead it now crackles on the overrun....again, just like a rally car. me thinks theres a tiny overfuel tbh, will see what happens next time im up

anyway, front bumper (which i've decided i now hate) is back kind of on aswell, so it'd beginning to look like a car again

more to follow when the postie has decided he can be arsed afterall.....

think i loved th elook of this car beyone many if not all other cinqs. making it look like a 899 wouldnt make me want to look at it ever again. would ruin it tbh. liked the stripe. like the bumpers :p.

but im not you lol so see what happens but i vote no!

so that's 1 vote each :p tbh i've never been totally convinced by the front bumper, it looks far too much like it's trying to be a sei IMO, it really doesnt blend onto the cinqs shape properly IMO

would probably look better with a proper reg plate and some subtle black mesh behind the grille though, could be the long term plan :)

absolutley love the hormann rear bumper though, that is spot on IMO

and the stripe is going anyway...well, it's not going really, just getting relocated and resized to make it slightly more subtle

it's my cinq now, i don't want it to to remembered for how it once looked when it belonged to someone else, i want it to be noticed for how it looks now :) (well, how it will look, it's far from tidy atm, it's a work in progress ;) )

it will look very different eventually to how it once did, not everyone will like it, but meh, it's not them that will be driving it every day :) lol

i'm not going for the 899 look per say though, it'll still have sporting lights, indicators, abarth side skirts, spoiler, the smoothed boot, be lowered and on 14" alloys, twin tailpipe etc, the only 899 parts on it will be the bumpers and it would only be a fairly temporary measure...especially the rear one, because i like that rear hormann bumper too much hahaha

it's just really till respray time, the front bumper in particular need sprayed big time, it's really letting the car down atm
