was just thinking everyone keeps coming back to the map sensor hose even though i have replaced with new hose and sensor so im thinking the hose is maybe to flexible and is just sucking itself together or the filter in line of the vacuum hose maybe fubar

i've been having a wee think about the sei's issue. the timing was well off until we sorted that, i think it may still be a tooth or 2 out tbh, but nowhere near enough to have it running like that

it doesnt seem to be overfuelling anymore, it smells normal again, i really think its a fuel pressure problem tbh, most the main sensors have already been replaced, so fuel filter has to be looked at

theres a few things i think should be checked next time we work on it, including the timing again, just to make sure the marks are totally aligned.

The one i think ming means is the one behind the big fan belt wheel we took off that's set to about 10'o clock on the blcok to time it, with the cam at 9 against the head.

don't really get the set to 10 oclock position? There is nothing to set. you need to put it on to match the key on the crank sprocket.

If is in the wrong position it will not run right.

Ming

it's set with the marks aligned on the block though, that mark is near the 10'o clock position on the block, hence that is where the crank is set :)

i think the hose may be a shout actualy, will check that next time from the cinq to the sei for a test :)

No that is the timing mark you are talking about. And that's the crank sprocket and the not pulley. (the pulley is the thing that bolts to the sprocket)

On the sprocket there a wee bit sticking out (key) and the pulley has a hole for the key to go into. Is not just a case of putting the 3 bolts on. Double check that.

Ming

ah, gotcha ming :) i know exactly the bit your meaning now :)

im almost 100% sure that was fine, we paid attention to getting that in the correct position before bolting it up, but will check again :)

Todays progress, and audio de-install and removal of all seats except drivers...for obvious reasons haha.

you wouldnt believe how much higher the cinq is sitting with all the crap out the back, i estimate she's lost about 30kg today

the wiring where the amp was is a total mess, so thats all been punted, im thinking the rear seat may well stay out infact, definiteley staying out is the kitchen cupboard door that was being used as a boot floor, lol

now i know why everything was so wrong audio wise at the back, i'll get the rear speakers wired up properly, as it is, she's starting to look like a stripped out special ;)

It's just paint, its a half arsed bodge job by the previous owner.....sums up the rest of the car aswell tbh. the whole thing is one big bodge job

The paintwork, been a quick job, overspray on lights, cracks on spoiler etc
Bootlid smoothing, disintegrated
The reason the strip was there was to hide the fact there had been a bodge on the bootlid
Paint in the boot thats so thin you wouldnt believe it,
a head gasket job that was never done propely
side skirts arent attatched properly
window tints are poor
and the wiring....jesus, the wiring was so bad it was very dangerous, it was all sparking off the rear seat at one stage, i had to cap all the wires off to make them safe.

at least its getting done better now ;)

the amp etc are all out, the wires you can see on there are still in atm, just because they run under the door kick trim. i need to look what other wires he's bodged in there and see if i either have to just rewire the rear speakers totally to the headunit or if theres any i can just tap into to get the feed to them. tbh, i favour the rewire, pureley because ive seen the standard of what i removed, lol

but i'll investigate further.

the black paint in the rear however will be redone....it'll tie in with my interior plan eventually ;)

i have to say, even driving it the 15 ft into the garage again, i could feel the difference removing the interior has made, it felt really sharp pulling away :D

If you get problems with your'e Audio wiring Mark let me know as I have contacts in the Audio Buisness!

it's cool :) i know (vaguely) what i'm doing :p

it's good when i know what im doing, it's also good when i don't, that way i learn ;)

i have the eperience on sub installs and wiring to know where im going on this also :D im sure i still have the 200 amp trip switch around here somewhere aswell :D better than any in line fuses :D

time to kick start this again i think, in all seriousness it's not far off being mot-able

list for mot...

1x tyre
handbrake cable
gearbox mount (got, just need to fit)
exhaust spacer
headlamp plug
hazard switch

that should be enough to get her through an mot

on top of that though im wanting

standard front bumper
new steering wheel
new front seats
stereo wired up correctly
alloys refurbed
full respray

the cinq WILL be making an apperance at the christmas meet, maybe even one a bit sooner ;)

anyone got any of the above bits like the hazard assembly, lemme know :)

just to add,

i missed out the funniest bodge i found

rather than getting an exhaust spacer, the previous owner decided to hold the exhaust in place with one bolt and fill the 10-15mm gap with some of that "no more big gaps" spray, then sealed it with exhaust paste! lmao

honestly, i don't think many would believe how many bodges this car has had, it was a total mess.

Get a picture of the no more gap mate , as i don't think that sounds possible.

Either get a spacers made up 15mm (for best fit) or get an old exhaust mani and grind off the end. I think i might have a hazard switch, 899 one fit ok?

will do, still have the bumper off so it can be seen in all it's glory lol

it's right enough though as Abyss will confirm ;) it was held in place by one (maybe 2 pins if one fell out) at one point through the holes and the vibration made the no more big gaps crack so most of the exhaust smoke now goes into the engine bay rather than up the pipes into the cat, unbelievable bodge tbh, it probably cost more for the no more big gaps and exhaust paste than it would have to get a spacer made.

i reckon there may be a temp tube inside that was pasted and gunked around, its the only way it could be possible....mad it was ever done, but sum up the whole car perfectly, even when a proper fix is easier and cheaper, the bodge has been done :(

899 one would be grand mate if you happen to have one kicking about :D

never even thought of just grinding the end off a manifold :D have to check the spare one and maybe use that for at least 1 of the spacers cant remember if you have a spare one or not :)

and yup either the spacer that was made has dissintegrated inro nothing or there is none there :D just a big hole right through where a bolt used to be :D

you up for some diy at the weekend MrC :D still need to get this engine out of the boot and get your handbrake sorted out maybe get your gearbox mount on aswell

well we can hack the bracket off the punto manifold ive got here so we have at least got 1 spacer ready and then take it down to the steel fabricators i know of and see how much for a couple more :D
i have ordered my head gasket kit so hopefully im off next friday on holiday so we can get a good full day at it weather permitting
im hoping to have the engine ready for installing by end of the month depending on what times im getting back from the new routes i do
but if you are up for it im up at 7am on saturdays and girlfriend doesnt get up till around 12 :) so im free to do work then if you can manage early starts :D oh and since the handbrake cable is there are you wanting the ramps to get the car in the air a bit better than the jack what size of tyre you needing ill speak to callum and see if he has any lying around his shop

just a thought :D are the tyres the same as i have on the abarth alloys as i have a spare in the shed :D
