Ive just had my belts changed, I went back to the garage a few days later and said that it sounds like my belt is too tight.

The answer was: All bravos sound like that.

:( Uhh Is this true or just a fob-me-off?

Explain

James, what kind of noise is it? How much did they charge you for the work?
Cheers

Here is some more details

I was charged about £130 by a local garage in Malmesbury. This price included both belts to be changed and a new pulley.

My bravo was in the garage fron Thurs to monday, I was gutted. Fiat had the pulley on back order so I had to do without my bravo for the weekend which was very painfull.

Its really hard to explain the noise, I really need to park up by a fellow bravo owner and check the noise on their engine.

It may be a long shot but i may be able to record it and send you the .wav

Im finding it hard to explain what it sounds like, however since the belts and pulley have been changed it has really quited down.

Mine too!

My HLX 1.8 also seems to make whining noise from the belt, I thought I was going mad so I took it to my dealer, he agreed he could hear it also and said 'it is NOT a characteristic of Bravo's!'.

He said it is due to the belt being rather wide in manufacture, he claimed that the belt is prone to 'drying out' very quickly, he replaced the belt, then added some grease stuff to it - Voila!

Absolutely no noise (and no charge!).

But will it return?

Get it rechecked

Have a look at the thread starting 'i'm having a mare!!' My cam belt snapped at 35,000 and the cars not been the same since. Fiat repaired mine FOC outside of warranty.
