Hello,
recently I've seen expensive engine repair on Ducato which hit something with oil pan and lost oil, resulting in engine failure.

I wonder then if there is any skid plate or cover for oil pan available for this car? I may be driving sometimes on light off-road hence my concern.

Plenty available on ebay. Most are from east europe e.g Poland . My 2017 comes with the outer two parts of the cover already fitted and you can buy just the centre part or all three parts https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shelter-...311942?hash=item4b6abce6c6:g:CVQAAOSws~VcVeGQ

Whilst I have one of those myself, they are just plastic covers designed to deflect airflow and ingress of dirt. They wouldn't stand up to any kind of impact sufficient to damage the sump pressing.

Fiat do list a steel engine protection shield as an option, and I have seen aftermarket versions on eBay too.

I've only ever seen one on a dutch van and it was a very simple y shaped alloy tray bolted to the cross members to protect the sump. fwd ducato is completely useless off road can't imagine there is any demand for a commercial one.

Here's an image of the genuine steel guard. There are additional mounting brackets that have to be fitted to the vehicle to accommodate the undertray fixings.

Agreed ,but Seval have messed round with several 4x4 variantsover the last couple of years which can be seen on you tube.
I think they need to move the intercooler on the later vans as i hit a small animal at around 4am in the morning last year and it ripped a 3inch split in mine , i managed to drive up to Santander and get back to the UK where i replaced it .

Now fitted a Turkish foam covered bullbar ,which will help deflect any wayward wildlife further under the van on impact , but it is vunerable being mounted so low down.

Unfortunately low and and at the front is exactly where the intercooler needed to be mounted to do its job correctly

I had the heavy factory sump guard on my 2007 Ducato. Was real strong and had a few knocks over the years.
When I was looking to buy the vehicle initially I thought the sump looked vulnerable so put the guard on the spec sheet. Only big disadvantage was it was damned heavy and had to come off to change the oil filter and the fixings over time do corrode.
The sump on my 2017 van ( no guard ) has started to rust already and I think the sump guard did help things in this perspective.
Another thought is that the guard did stop a degree of cooling getting to the sump to cool the oil.
I removed the guard from the 2007 van and put it on the 2015 van but had to put in more rivnuts into the chassis to fix it. Never put it on the 2017 van as desperate to save unladen weight.

Never known or had a need for such a guard in over 1.5 million miles of Ducato s, unless you’re driving up kerbs which means you’ll smash the low sump

Avoid kerbs, no issues
