Hi
I have a new Motorhome and the climate control is not working properly because the external temp sensor has not been installed by the converter. I have the sensor in a bag, I know it normally is housed in the o/s door mirror but I don’t have the standard mirrors on my van.
I have found the door wiring connector and am assuming the temp sensor would be routed through this connector. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the latest 2019 Ducato with diagram of the drivers side door wiring please.
Thanks in advance Andy.

Just picked up on this thread, have you had any success with the sensor and fitting it?

I've only just noticed this.

I can't remember the link from which I originally downloaded the following:

http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=g31bb8537217733ee1000165909ee7b6debef072115

...so I've temporarily hosted it on a (safe) file-sharing site.

It's the X/290 converters manual, and amongst other things should provide the wiring diagrams the OP is looking for (and some additional info on the Temperature Sensor)

It will only be hosted for the maximum 21 days allowed, so quick download is advised.

Have just replaced my external temp sensor on Burstner Fiat Ducato X250 (RT hand drive). Not with a fiat part thermistor as could not find one, but with standard waterproof thermistor. The Drivers door mirror has a little 'pimple' on the lower part through a hole in the bottom of mirror case and a clip type fitting inside. This 'Pimple' contains the thermistor. The wiring for this (two wires) on the X250 is separate from other wiring in the mirror and terminates in a separate connector clipped to the door immediately under the mirror control console (removable) on the door. The thermistor wiring is pink with a black stripe on one of them. Do you have, Heated mirrors and a DAB radio as well as climate control? If you do you may have other connectors for these. By the way depending on the mirror you can fit the thermistor without taking the mirror off the door. Hope this is some help.

Thanks all for your helpful replies, I found the thermistor fitted outside under the floor and at the moment it seems to be working although sometimes the values are way out.

I may replace the non fiat thermistor with the fiat one that was supplied loose in the glovebox but will leave it alone at the moment.

Thanks again.

Andy

Hugh I actually found that download it is very useful thank you.

Hi Hugh, that looks like a very handy document - could you upload it to the forums' Download section for permanent storage? Thanks in advance :)

I could do, (or so could someone else by downloading and uploading), but I haven't a clue where any upload facility is provided. (I looked before hosting externally). I'm probably missing something obvious. :D

I have now replaced the converters thermistor with the OEM fiat one that was supplied but not fitted, after looking closely at the thermistor I removed it looks like it is corroded inside the heat shrink insulation. this would hopefully explain why the temperature reading was way out. since changing out the temperature has read correctly. my next trip will confirm.

Thanks again.
Andy.

Hi , new member here . Can anyone tell me how to get into the mirror casing to remove / replace the sensor please . And if anyone has a part number that would be most welcome .
It’s 2015 model so would that be X250 ?

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy, could you possibly supply the part number for the replacement sensor. I've looked but am struggling to find. Thanks, Paul

Sorry to comment on a old thread but you guys may be able to help
I have bought the ambient temp sensor fiat Ducato that goes in the wing mirror
I have found the plug in the inside door being a tyco connector
My problem is this temp sensor comes with no connector just 2 wires
Last owner must have smashed the wing mirror and unplugged the sensor wire from the door when changing the mirror
So I’m left with a sensor with no housing connector
Will I be ok pulling the wires from the connector in the door I believe pin 1&2 is temp ref & temp signal and butt connect them to the sensor? I believe the other pins are deflector cerbo x2 and others not connected in pins 5-8
It’s the only way I can think of
I believe these are the tyco connectors
8-way Tyco connector on mirror p/n 1745000-2

Counterpart: Tyco p/n 284869-2

Should I trace the one connector I need for the sensor side I think is the counter part 2844869-2 or will hot wiring them be fine
Thanks

Hi

The temperature sender is a thermistor (thermal sensitive resistor) and can be connected either way round.

The connections run from door/mirror connector P060B Pins 1 and 2 to Junction D237 Pins 3 and 4, then to Junction D226 Pins 7 and 8 and finally to the Body Control Module Pins C2 and C2.

For the older vans, the wire colours were HV (Grey/Green) and HR (Grey/Red). Yours may not be the same, but will be thin (0.5 square mm cross sectional area core)

You could struggle to find "proper" connectors as these things are often custom designed for big users like Fiat and not on open sale. Your best bet is to remove the two relevant vehicle wires from the connector and butt join them to the sensor wires. Maybe a good idea to do a temporary job with a "chocolate block" connector to check it all works before doing anything more permanent.

Thanks buddy yes I removed pin 1&2 being the temp sensor wires I will try a a temp connection first first to test it out like you mentioned
