Morning
Has anyone fitted one of these engine under trays off eBay?

I’ve never looked under a boxer/relay but on the 2yr old Ducato (which needs a new sump due to rusting through

I fancy fitting one to protect the new sump

But the sump and inter cooler pipe hang lower than the subframes etc

Asked the supplier and received a great answer

Just wondering if any issues relating to it’s fitting IMG_4871.JPGIMG_4872.JPG

Hi Neil. I fitted an ebay set to my 2007 x250 following having to replace the rusty sump. I don't know if they will also it the x290. The fitting kit may need a few other fixings to make sure it stays on as the undertray is a lot thinner than original part.

I'm surprised that your sumps are rusting, with the mileage you do they can't ever get cold. Maybe you should get the dealer to factory fit an undertray as part of your next new van deal.

The mileage is part of the issue not temperature, the constant battering of road crud/salt/water,

Yes enquired 2years ago when I needed a new van but to wait 6 months min for a van to be built to spec (they couldn’t obtain a guard to retro fit) was silly when they had the van in stock.

Common issue by the amount of sumps available on the inter web,

Morning.
I would be interested to know how you get on with this.

Just thought I'd mention that after finding quite a lot of surface rust on the sump of my not yet 3 year old van, I rubbed it down and repainted it, and have now fitted one of the undertray kits from Poland as shown in rolopolo 's link above.

I have to say for the price (£72 including delivery and fixings) I'm pleased with it and actually pleasantly surprised by the quality. Yes, it's thinner than the OEM cover, but it is a durable and strong plastic material and the quality of the moulding is actually pretty good. The fixing holes line up with the fixing points on the van and along the edge of the existing OEM right hand undertray panel. All the correct fixings for my X290 van were included and it is actually pretty rigid when fitted - a lot more so than the flexibility of the individual panels would suggest.

The only alteration I made was to fix a short length of aluminium bar above one of the air vents in the centre panel to keep it straight, as the moulding was slightly bowed, possibly because the panel had been folded within the box it was delivered in.

Overall though, I'm happy with it and it has exceeded my expectations.

Sorry the photos aren't best quality - it decided to chuck it down as I was finishing off!

Best return on investment you will make if you plan to keep the van. Probably worth painting the sump too is ifs going to be closed up all the time.

I have fitted the same style to my Stilo, and it's been great. I have lowered the car so it can hit speed bumps if required ?. They are fantastic quality and help with engine temperature's in the cold weather too.
