Hi All,

Can you guys help me. Yesterday during shifting a kind of snapping sound came from under the dashboard and a strange "bold" feel on the floor.

Does anybody knows what it is and where it came from?

It is a Fiat Ducato X250 2014 KNAUS CAMPER.

Many thanks

Hi,

Are you still able to select all gears?
Does the clutch pedal still work OK?

From your photos, it seems that something has broken off the round end? There does not seem to be any means of fixing other than the square end.
Is it made from plastic or metal?

What is the diameter of the round part?
How long is the round part?

Hi,

I can select all gears, during driving all seems fine. The clutch pedal works fine, although it seems lighter (imagine it maybe).

There are no sharp edges on the bolt, it just popped out during the use of the clutch pedal. Diameter is 6mm, length is 3cm.

It looks like a pivot pin, for one of the pedals, hence the question about clutch operation. Normally I'd expect to see a hole in the pointy end for a split pin, but it may be held by a clip at the square end.

You need to get your head up under the dash, and find where it belongs, as it will be important.

Here's a pic of a Ducato clutch mechanism, probably earlier than yours, so only a guide. Item 11 is a pivot pin that connects the pedal to the master cylinder, with a clip, no.20 to hold it. I'm guessing yours is similar.

The diagram above from Portland Bill resolves the "pin" (no 11) to Fiat part number 71747696 for a 2014 model, the images of which match yours.

Second opinion:

Patently, it should be retained by a circlip.

The explanation makes sense, but I expect a circlip to sit in a groove. I cannot see it in either the OP's photo, or in that provided by Hugh. Where is the groove? Can anyone enlighten me? The lack of a visible groove or thead, is what prompted my query regarding possible signs of breakage.

Indeed, I would expect a groove, but the pictures don't show one.

I wonder whether the fixation clip is meant to be simply an "interference" fit, since the rotation is around the other axis, meaning there would normally be little or no force acting thereon.

Whatever, ePer shows part 13404276 as the locating part, and this is (according to this) a circlip (very much like my first image above):

Get that put back in straight away before lack of pin causes clutch master cylinder to fail. Replacing clutch master cylinder looks a horrible task.

This is very similar to the clutch pedal to clutch master cylinder arrangement on my Mk4 ford Fiesta. The circlip would spring off and the bolt would move allowing the pedal to become detached from the master cylinder push rod. It was so common that it was possible to obtain a modified part not using the circlip. https://www.i6automotive.co.uk/ford...tch-pedal-repair-clip-kit-with-allen-key.html

Ford themselves did away with the circlip and used a push on washer that had spring tags on it, similar to that used to hold pram wheels on. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274673087644?

For information. When because of a minor leak, I replaced the clutch master cylinder on my x244 a few years ago, the task was easier than expected. I was particularly concerned about lining everything up to insert the equivalent pin with my head under the pedals. In the event it all lined up automatically. Also managed to avoid draining, and hence bleeding the brake system.
