Hi there,

First of all I'll introduce myself: my name is Wim, I'm form Belgium and I drive a Doblo SX 1900 D.
I'm having the following problem from time to time, when I want to start, nothing happens. So, I wait until all the necessary lights on the control panel go out, turn the key a little bit further and ... nothing happens. The battery is in good shape (just a new one, and the lights are burning strong) and when it works, then the car immediately starts without problems.
When I touch some wires in the engine and try again, then it starts. So, it seems there's some of electronic problem with the sensor on the flywheel, it seems the board computer needs the position of the crankshaft to be able to start.
Can this be the case?
What other things can cause this issue?
Does somebody have a schematic/manual which he can mail me so I can investigate this further?

thx

wim

First off, welcome to the forum :)

Now this may sound silly (and I don't mean to insult your intelligence) but have you checked to see if any of those wires in the engine bay are loose? Also, is it not the ignition barrel it'self thats at fault or the wiring within it?

Not had this problem myself so can't really pinpoint the problem, I do however have a workshop manual and I will have a look later to see if I can find anything in it and if so I'll mail you the relevant part.

Thx a lot for the suggestion. I believe this indeed might be the case, but I want to be open for all suggestions. Especially how the electronics are interacting and what's really needed to start. I've already ordered the service manual on CD, but in the meantime it's always exciting... will he start, or not??? ;-)

As the saying goes "you either gotta laugh or you gotta cry" and in your case your turning a bad situation into a laugh :p In the meantime you could take a look to see if there are any loose wires in the ignition barrel, just take out the 4 screws around the "wheel height adjustment handle" and you have access to the wires connecting to the barrel. Hope you get it sorted :)
