General DOBLO Maxi 1.6 Multijet - idle at startup

General DOBLO Maxi 1.6 Multijet - idle at startup

I’m honestly not sure, the garage said that he would be surprised if injectors are at fault as it’s below 100k miles. That’s why he’s recommending a diesel specialist rather than just going ahead with injectors.
I would be surprised that injectors at under 100k were the problem.
My advice would be to get a good diagnosis first, my 2010 Doblo 1.6 multijet is showing no signs of this at 106k.

So an update to the issue. I took the van to a diesel specialist. They had the Van for a week whilst I was on holiday. They viewed the live data reading during the start up issue and struggled to pinpoint what was wrong. EGR was working fine, glowplugs working as they should, all sensors reading correct values and fuel pressure was spot on. They gave me the option of pulling the injectors to check and test them to which i agreed to. Injectors tested perfectly with no issues. To conclude the garage has simply said they are also stumped. They dont believe the rough running for a few seconds on cold starts will cause any long term issues but have just advised to live with it unless it develops further. Which is annoying but i think i am done spending money on the van when "professionals" can't even solve it.
If anyone else finds the issue please let me know :)

Did anybody get to the bottom of this problem , just bought a 2015 doblo maxi 1.6 74,500 miles with the same problem

Cheers Ben , I did not really notice it when I bought the van ,funny how it only happens from cold , once warm no problem

Same with me mate, I had no issues for the first few months after buying the van then out of nowhere it started and hasn’t gone away since.

I posted on the Facebook Doblo page and had a comment about resetting the ecu , I had done this previously on a Motorhome I hade so thought I would try on the doblo , I disconnected the battery terminals and then turned on and pressed the brake pedal, touched the battery terminals together also to get rid of any residual current in the circuit, I left it like this for an hour while doing something else ,

An hour later a connected the battery terminals back and restarted the engine with out touching the throttle pedal and left to tick over till the engine reached temperature, I left a further 10 minutes and then turned off , I restarted and no hesitation but expected this as the engine was warm ,

I have started the engine up from cold this morning and the hesitation has all but gone , once I have tax on the van I will reset again and once up to temp I will take for a run for the ecu to reset fully

I think with many vehicles if battery disconnected for any reason and allowed to sit for a while the ECU has to "relearn " it's normal settings.
As I understood it, the idea was on restarting you drove off and then as it warmed up did a wide range of different driving to let the ECU learn what was normal at different speeds and loads, I have noticed after working on a vehicle it's characteristics seem to settle down following that disconnection, for instance if battery disconnected when changing a clutch etc..
Maybe this is what your are experiencing, but if it cures your problem then that will be a good thing for others to try in similar circumstances:)

I was told to let it sit with out driving or reving it till it had warmed up , once warm then to drive it at different rev ranges

I have the same issue on my Combo and have raised this on the vauxhall forum.

No DTCs at all!

I have an icarsoft CR pro and if I us the Combo(other) vehicle type I can get 166 data live data points for the engine, all of which appaer to be active and correct. Except 1.

The Fuel Temp sensor indicates 22.6C and does not move at all from cold to warm. All other temp sensors indicate increased temps.

However - I am unable to find any reference for a Fuel temp sensor on any of the sites for this 1.6multijet/1.6CDI engine.

Anyone...?

Some models have a big UEFI ? fuel filter unit that has I think five wires going to it that may be related to that.
I have a couple of 2010 1.6 Doblo MJs and a 2014 Vauxhall Combo 1.3 which I think from memory has that type filter, but none of them suffer from the issue mentioned. I haven't checked for fuel temp readings. This is the Vauxhall one on the 1.3MJ Combo.

The combo has now gone to heaven/hell - Looks like it has slipped the timing belt. No compression on 2 cylinders. Too expensive to repair. So have now bought a Doblo 1.3MJD SX Maxi. Higher spec than the combo, but we can fit all the dog cage setup in with no changes.

If anyone is interested in the Combo - please let me know.

Just had £2000 spent getting through MOT - Front suspension + other things

Was it ok when you taxed it and took it for a drive? We need to hear the end of the story...

No mate, just living with the problem until it throws up a fault to be honest.
Hi Benhod149, did you get anywhere with this? I have had the same issue, got worse and worse but I couldn't get a diagnosis from the garage, now it has gone into limp mode and the garage are saying piston rings - new engine/write off

After trying the ecu reset it was actually a little better, but still does it now, have put about 4000 miles on it and the only problem has been a bad crank sensor, had that changed and runs a dream but still a slight hesitant when first started and cold
