Hi All

Just wondering if someone could help.

I have a adapted Doblo and at it last MOT I was given an advisory ~ that a cable was lose in the nearside wheelarch.

Looking at it now it seem that the cable (inside a plastic sleeve) goes through the suspension coil spring. It goes out through to the front of the car around to the battery (it has an inline 10Amp fuse just before the battery).

A What is this cable for?

B Is thia normal build for the car (Reg 53)

Thanks in advance

Mike

sounds like it was originally a power feed for a wheelchair winch or similar type thing if its an adapted doblo,

sounds a little disturbing that its routed thru the suspension spring, i wouldnt like that to short out!, if you dont use it i would either remove or re-route it myself!, there plenty of neater ways to put a cable run from front to back in a doblo that dont have to put a live wire thru the suspension spring and risk chafing and shorting out! :)

Hi

Thanks for that info. The only extra that I can think of if there is a Power Lock for the Wheelchair "Seat straps" (if thats the right description). It's gone out now so Ill have a look later.

These things have to be adapted properly by a reputable company - and I doubt they'd route a cable in such a dangerous manner. You say the cable goes to the batt via a 10A inline fuse but you didn't say where it goes the other direction - in other words, what it powers.
I've driven some of these adapted vehicles & they tend to have two winches which attach either side at the front of the chair with an illuminated rocker switch to isolate them somewhere by the back door (when you turn off power it locks the winch). The rear straps are on some sort of ratchet - either a belt that winds onto a reel or like the ratchet tie down straps.

If this loose cable does wind through the coil spring it sounds like a DiY jobbie & worth investigating.
