Can anyone tell me if you can get a rear cycle carrier to hold either 2 or 3 bikes for a 4 Fiat Doblo 6 door. I have seen them for the 5 door but not the split doors on the rear. Or has anyone just bought a cheap universal one and found that they fit just as good.

On my Marea Weekend I had a detachable towbar with a cycle carrier accessory. When you detached the ball you could slot in the carrier frame. I'm trying to find one for the Doblo. I assume if it exists it would fit either rear hatch or rear door types.

Saris bones 3 will fit, had one on my old Punto and its very secure when fitted and highly adjustable so will fit with no problem.
But, if I'm only carrying two bikes, I just remove the front wheels, fold down the rear seat and put the bikes in back wheel first and upside down. Use a couple of cheap ratchet straps from Halfords and tie them down to the cargo loops in the boot.
Three or more bikes will go in, but you'll need to start taking both wheels off to get more in- especially if you want the rear seat to be used.

I've got the 5 door & bought a carrier from leisure something or other on ebay.
After initial adjustment, it takes but a few seconds to fit/remove.
With just the carrier fitted, it is difficult to open the tailgate as the struts cannot handle the weight ( Fiat & Perrys say the struts are fine & designed to just handle the weight of tailgate) so accessing the boot is a pain.

I sent a few emails to various manufacturers asking why they don't make a carrier to hold bikes vertically on the rear door (like the ones that hold bikes upright on the roof? but nobody came back to me.

I reckon your best bet would be to buy one that clamps to the towbar.

Ok thanks everyone for your replies. I am ok when there are only 2 of us going as i can get 2 bikes in the back no problem but when there is 3 of us going well thats when the problems start. My seats dont have the split rear seats, all the lot fold down so cant get 3 bikes and 3 people in. Thats why i was looking for a carrier but once again Fiat dont do one, nor Halfords or anyone else.

Thanks again anyway everyone

My cycle carrier holds 3 bikes without too much hassle

No i dont have a tow bar. Everywhere i go they are saying nothing will fit the fiat with the split rear doors, so might have to end up getting roof bars and fitting a paddy hopkirk or something

Hi Sludgeguts

Took your advice after several months of looking at all the options i had to get bikes transported around either in or out of the Doblo. I have ordered a cycle carrier now from Leisure Market, its on the way. I am going camping for the weekend in May at the bike radar show at Donnington Park so need the bikes to go on the rear of the car. I will be taking 3 bikes , 2 friends and all the camping gear in the Doblo.

Thanks again for your advice
