Where does the fuel tank usually leak?

Isn't it usually along the welds? Sure I read that somewhere. Search perhaps?

yes the seals leak BUT thats for the recall.they can leak in other areas as well

Tried but dont see anything stating it. On alainas cinq its the fuel filler neck, but the wee one im going to buy, the guy doesnt know, its not gonna have a huge hole or anything in it is it?

Seams, or the fuel pump seal, or the filler neck, or the breather pipe and evap (vapour return) pipe.

Is it very common for leaking fuel on a cinq?

The brother in law's passed his test and asked me to help find him a sporting cinq for around £800. I've never driven one before

Yes mine leaks only with £15 or more fuel in mind.

Mine leaked at the seams. If you take a look under the car you'll see a damp patch around the seams. Feel around with ur fingers around the bits of the seams you can't see. There won't be any holes lol. I took mine into FIAT, at first they didn't want to see it as the computer system said it had been recalled in '04. My mate mechanic had it up on ramps and I asked him to look, and he found it. Took it back to FIAT and they got it done as another recall

I hear so many stories of leaking tanks, has anyone thought of using tank sealer? Not used it on a car myself (have used it on a few motorbikes) but it should just be a case of remove tank (made that sound easy ) remove pump etc, pour in sealer, swill it round, wait for it to set, refit.

Anyone tried it?
