The window switches need either LEDs and a current limit resistor or a 12V rated LED.

For the clock- the bulb shines through a green filter as is, just replace that with some coloured acetate!!

Custard, FYI, the only LED that needs soldering is the sidelight switch, the rest slide into dedicated housings with current limiting resistors attached

sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

but only the wiper / heated window / headlight switch etc. are 3mm leds.

the window switches, the dial bulbs the clock and the heater controlls are all individual bulbs, so will need replacing with individual LED bulbs, normal 3mm leds wont work.

Yeah that, just ordered mines up from ultraleds (great service, ballsed up my first order then the let me combine my second with the first and refunded my money!) Got some LED bulbs and LED's.

Pics and no doubts questions soon.

i mean they are normal bulbs, so need like for like replacments, as blue bulbs arent bright enough, led bulbs are the answer.

however, dont buy off ultraleds, the bulb housing is too big for the fittings.

the only other problem is that red doesnt shine through the dials or the heater controls, something to do with the green backing, so they can only be blue or green.

if your goin for blue.... then buy 2 sets of these.

one set of 4 bulbs for the dials, then the other set of 4 can be used for the window switches, and the heater controlls.... use some blue acetate for the clock, then try and find 3mm 12v leds in your chosen colour for the rest of the switches. (12v leds dont require a seperate resistor)

ill post a pic of mine tomorrow morning as ive just finished doin them blue and red

I appreciate what Mase is saying and also thanks for your help mate but £20 odd quid is a fair bit of coin for some bulbs, I've got mines from ultra for less than a tenner.

I expect to run into some hitches as I always do with the Cinq but I should hopefully be able to overcome them.

I'll stick my findings and pics up asap.

Why not? Red + Green = Brown.

It can be red...look at my 1242's dash the next time you get a chance.

You need to scrape the white backing off (thats the coloured part too), and 'paint' in the bits you want red.

It does mean the symbols arent clear in daylight, but I cant say I really give a stuff for that tbh

as a moderator i thought it was my duty to try both methods and report my findings haha. the ones from ulltra are exactly the same, and work just as well, but do require the plastic housing to be filed down in order for them to fit into the holes (y) :D

remember tho, if they dont work when u first put the bulbs in, take them out and twist them 180 degrees, then try them again ;)

i dont know mate.... but ive tried them and its true.

i put red LED bulbs behind my heater controlls, and they hardly shine through at all, but once changed to idential bulbs, but in blue... they are fine and u can see them properly.

there is of course your way, or busting out a set of custom plasma ones like you did (y) ill post a pic of my dash up tomorrow and show u how rocking blue looks tho! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Well the plasma things do look very coiol, even if I do say so myself...

prob is...youre giving me ideas on trying it on the heater controls, and I have other, notably bigger fish to fry atm!
