Base it on the Punto GT setup at the front, use aftermarket discs if you want buzzy noises, choice of pads to suit your driving circumstances. Punto GT rear needs a bit of work, but can be done, and it works well.

Cheers

Can arrange for some calipers and brackets custom made whatever you want.

If you want the whirring noise you need cross drilled discs.

If you go for slotted one do not go over 6 grooves either straight or curve or have a single spiral groove, which is the quitest.

More grooves wil rub down the pads too quickly.

Eh, you've had to insure the government to make your conversion go ahead? Have you got 300 MPs insured on your car or something?

i got punto front discs and calipers on the front of my cinq and uno turbo rear discs on the back. Not alot of work to get them fitted at all and stop the car really well.
What bhp is the engine expecting to produce as obviously you need to compensate.
You can always get the tarox 6 pot kit if you feel this is necessary.

is that expensive? looking for the best brakes possible but not at stupid prices. bhp will be always on the increase with mods so want brakes which will be good enough with the final bhp. xxx

Rob Whitney has managed to fit some Alfa 156 discs to a Cento on 15"s...

Money no object, and as you have 15" wheels, these http://www.gazzella.cc/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=17753&category_id=651 bt having now run the Punto GT set up for a while I can safely say you would never need anymore braking power than that in a Cinq as fading is a thing of the past and you can out brake just about any car on the road, if anything you have to be careful not to lock them as they do not need th shove to work them like standard Cinq brakes do.

How about putting Punto GT front and rear brakes on - you would have pads and discs all round, then upgrade the discs and pads to Tarox etc with braided hoses.

Am I right in thinking that once I find an unattended Punto GT in Tesco's car park all I need is the disks and calipers, together with some 14" rims to wrap round them?

If so from where can I procure the hubcentric spacers? I can't find any 10mm ones:bang:

Regards

Pete

Hey pete,

FK make 10mm hubcentric spacers, mine set me back about £60 (for two pairs - they list in pairs for some reason :p) delivered from www.2modified.com highly recommend as others have told me they were quoted alot more to get hold of some :)

Phone Red Dot and speak to Andrea, Tony or Augusto. They will make them out of T6 for you.

Aaron, you reckon standard spec GT pads and discs are ok on a Cento that isn't used on track day type driving?

hi pete,

I use Maxtorq Group n non-grooved/drilled http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5861 disc's cheaper or at least on par with standard disc's and a higher friction coefficient and mintex M1144 pads, I came across those disc's after reading a lengthy thread on a track day cars site and they constantly out performed other big name make disc's by getting between 4-6 track days compared to 2-3 for most others at double or more the price.

Its a very progressive set up with lots of bite from cold and not snatchy in any way, perfect for road use and good enough to take some abuse from me on the 6 mile drive to and from work on 60mph limit dual carriageways with a roundabout every 3/4 of a mile, ah the beauty of MK, lol

there is a whole thread on fitting tehm, you need the callipers which will bolt striaght on the disc's and of course pads, and yes 14" wheels. there is also many a thread on spacers and places that sell them.

Aaron.
