hi. im intending to change the fuel tank in 1 of my cinqs as the fuel sender doesnt seal properly as the threads on the tank are awful and doesnt hold the collar ring down enough with any force. i have to only put half a petrol tanks worth of petrol in all the time.

does anybody know the nut size for the collar? i know its very small. is it 6mm or 7mm?

many thanks!

wow that is small.ok, il try get some new ones with good threads!

Hmm... I think you'll find that the threads are stripped on the rods that are pressed into the tank rather than on the nuts. They're small (I think M4 but could be M5) so they're easily over-tightened when people find the tank still leaks.

If you're fitting a new ("other") tank, then buy a new seal if they're still available. It will make it a lot easier to get a proper seal without having to give the nuts the fatal half-turn extra that strips the threads. Once you know the size, I'd buy nylock nuts (or use some silicone sealant around the threads, so the nuts don't come undone again.
