As title of thread suggests, ive discovered my driver foglight is slightly cracked, Looks like wear and tear (stonechips) are to blame!

Just wondering if i would require a brand new foglight, or whether it is just a case of replacing the glass/plastic, which im gathering just unscrews out! The foglight works fine as i have tested it :)

Yeah, defo the whole unit :( was on my Schumi. Mine was full of condensation rather than cracked  .

Not sure how much they are at FIATS -I was lucky and got a used replacement off of ebay for a fiver, you may want to try a breakers.

However, if you do get a secondhand one, a few words of warning/experience relating to this for a facelift/MPI Sei, as replacing mine turned into a right git of a job.

The foglight clips in to the back of the grille surround, but is physically secured by the screw you can see from the front. This in turn is also the beam adjuster and there is a small but strong spring behind the black plastic surround through which the said screw is threaded, then into a retaining clip and bolt.

The spring and bolt may well be corroded as they are fully exposed to any crap/salt/spray off of the road. Make sure you get an operating screw/spring/bolt with any secondhand foglight you get, as I used enough penetrating oil to get Metal Mickey in the mood and still couldn't shift the duff one from my car. so it had to be sacrificed  .

Eventually, had to remove the whole grille, disconnect the wiring, uncoil the spring by hand with a pair of longnoses (took ages), and then, at last could get some bolt-cutters in far enough to cut through and separate screw/lamp/grille. :bang:

Twas a nightmare  ! Ye olde swearbox had runneth over by the time I was finished.

If you do have an MPI and can source one from a breakers, it may even be easier and cheaper if you go for the whole black plastic surround and the fog light, as then you only need to undo 4 screws, unplug the old lead, plug in the new, four screws back in - :D Hey presto!
