Hi

My newly owned Seicento has 175/50R14 74H tyres on it, and I need to check what the correct tyre pressure should be.

An online chart states psi 30 front and 30 back, but reading here on the forum, some have said add 32 front and 31 back.

Does it matter which I choose?

Many thanks
Tara

No detectable difference for tyre wear but on a track day harder fronts give less understeer.

If you dont like kicking them every morning Id buy a foot pump with a gauge and check tyres frequently tyres are expensive!

Cheers!

I picked up an AA electronic tyre inflator from a local charity shop for £3 a couple of months ago - I think it's time to dig it out and put it to use. :D

kicking them every morning saves getting a new tyre or new tyre and rim after a flat...

Well all four tyres were 24 PSI, so I topped them up to 32.

The drive home didn't feel any different, but the tyres should last longer now (they look relatively new)

Cheers!
Tara

if you need to kick a tyre to see if its flat i think you need to go to specsavers

when you kick a tyre at 30 psi it is different from a tyre at 15. If VOSA/plod pull you and a rear is at 15 you may get points.

you need to walk round it to check the lights anyway?

If you can't tell the difference use a gauge, can you afford points?

Points means prizes ...

and im not going to get in to a argument

Kick the flat one..

well VOSA are very active where I live.

the fun story which actually happened PLOD pulled a person for 40ish in 30 limit and also noted he had a rear light out.

being a smart ass he claimed he checked it every morning, they said it was out yesterday sir but you wernt speeding, we noted it in log books, with your plate do you wish to see.

it was commuter traffic...

6 points & fine..,

be careful when they get you for one thing they will try for two or three they are obliged to

I'd have thought that you wouldn't need to do a tyre kick on a tyre with only half the air in at 15 PSI.
Wouldn't your eyes do the telling? :D

Mine looked like they needed a top up at 24 PSI, but in the scenario you mention, I reckon the tyres would be dangerously low...

Hi Tara

At 04:00 in rain in dark on a camber 15 psi on the outside rear won't be that easy, even with flash light, bitter experience. The problem is the rear of wee auto is so light compared to front you might miss it. It should be obvious at front with 20...

kicking is the safe option you don't need to put the auto into next street but

if they don't sound the same you may have a problem carry a pressure gauge.

I run 32 front 30 rear with 13 inch wheels prefer the understeer but 32 all-round is ok to. with full load on mway 33 all-round

We are all green with envy you also have studs and a custom skinni, rest of us have 13s and bolts.
