Just wonder if you can run or if anyone has run a FIRE engine on carbs ie weber, bike carbs

just one of my random thoughts ive been having lately lol

i know that if you use bike carbs they will have to be small

any thoughts

Paul

just mainly because of the easy tuning option and nearly little wiring and mess

for the ignition it would have to be a modified distributor from another car or earlier fiat

im only saying this because the megasquirt i purchase is giving me a headache already lol

We have succesfully done a 1242 8v swap into an Uno 45. We just bolted the dizzy into the end of the head where the coil pack was, was a complete 1.2 engine with 866 cam. Fuel pump wise obviously we didnt have the cam driven bit in the back of the head, just used a facet pump run off the ignition switch, runs sweet as a nut and flies :)

Lots of squirters on here.

Wrong site for squirters...

Having read through a few Mega Squirt manuals I can understand why it bemuse most. A lot of the information although correct is not really relevant to someone fitting and setting one up, it also gets confusing with all the different versions and massively overcomplicates things. It is a very versatile system, well at least the latest versions are the earlier ones were poor IMO needing lots of messing about to overcome the software and hardware limitations. But the latest and greatest seems pretty powerful.

I would strongly suggest anyone contemplating fitting a Standalone, interceptor or any other kind of aftermarket management system gets a copy of the manual and reads it thoroughly before purchase. While some systems may cost a little more (or in the case of the one I'm using a little less) they are far easier to understand and tune.

Megasquirt for those who want a challenge and want to learn every detail or ask a lot of questions and quite often rely on other peoples settings sure, for those who just want a running tunable engine most of the big name systems (and some little ones) are far more user friendly.

But since you already have MS I'd suggest you persevere or perhaps sell it and buy something a little more user friendly...

Carbs are best saved for Museums and Classics.
