Its simple really, they like a newer car, better emissions, in the low tax bracket, more safer etc all the things they want to hear that arent as much as a risk obviously you pay more for the vehicle to get these things

i got a quote on a 1.6 1997 mazda mx5 2 seater and it was £1800 a year (im 20 btw) 0 years ncb, and was told a 2 seater is slightly cheaper on insurance because there is less people in the car if there was a serious accident lol! - in theory it makes sense - i dont see how your getting like £6000 quotes lol at your age, my mate is 17 with a 1.1 1997 106 and its £1800 a year lol - did u say your occuaption was a amateur street racer or something lol

I dont know how im getting such bad quotes either to be honest, i cant think of anything im filling in wrong and ive filled hundreds of the things in. The only other thing i can think of is if the Car is classified a CAT D or anything like that, it would make sense with it being so cheap. I think im going to keep searching for a different car, centos seem to be popping up all over the place around here..

The insurance companies will also run on the basis that if you spend more on a car you will treat it a bit better, be far more causcious with it and respect alot more than a 'banger' piece of 300-400 quids worth.
