ok i cant make my mind up i have got an 866 cam which i was going to fit as my standard one is abit tappity but what exactly will i gain from fitting it or is there someone on here that is desperate for it

I got a p60 lump recently, the head was fitted with 866 cam. I was wondering how the p60 engines with and without these cams differed power wise(seeing as they are supposed to be 60hp???

verniers are expensive so id keep a eye out for a second hand one. just keep it in mind. ive herd it doenst make any noticable/any massive difference alone, but with the vernier you can get a few more ponies out.

not really, for more agressive cams a vernier pulley might help. but no need on a p75 at all.

176.B4, made after around may 1997. Not sure on output, will be slightly up on 60bhp.

ok just to ask i have got ahold of the shimms out of the p75 i got the cam out of if i slot them ito my motor and then drop the cam in what is the likely hood of them being the right gap

thats the plan lol i will play and let you know how it goes cos the tapping is really doing my head in now

didn#'t sound like that when you asked about putting the P75 shims in. Just measure with the gap with the shims that are already on the car.

don't trust the number on the shims, they could be slightly off thr wear. Measure it with a digital caliper :).

digital caliper that sounds expensive will a feeler gauge do as thats what i have and it will do the 0.40 for the outlet and 0.45 for inlet or is it the other way i will double check in the other thread before i sat but looks like the work is on hold for today the heavens have opened after the beautiful clear skies of the last week dam it

and what i meant was if they are out could i just drop in the ones from the p75 instead of getting some new ones

Nope even with the P75 shims, it could still be out. They are just shims with different thickness not like made for specific model.

Guess feeler guage would do. Just beware the thickness stamped on the shims could be slightly out.

ok sat in front of my beast and got the rocker off with 866 cam in and gapped the shimms and they are gapped as follows (from timing belt)

.40-.35-.35-.25-.20-.35-.25-.35
should be
.45-.40-.45-.40-.45-.40.-45-.40

abit all over the place

is .40 and .45 the min or max or do they have to be dead on that

before you do anything i think the order is wrong.

please correct me as i may get it wrong way round.

isnt it

ex,in,ex,in,in,ex,in,ex think its this one,( it doesnt go in,ex,in,ex,in,ex,in,ex)

1 is ok ( if we use .40-.50mm)
2 is ok
3 is too smaller gap
4 "" "" ""
5 "" "" ""
6 "" "" ""
7 "" "" ""
8 is too smaller gap

hope i got that right, valves wont close when warm

sei specs .45 to .55mm for exhaust. wouldnt it be the same for all fire engines?

ok after about an hour and a half of playing got all to with-in 0.05 and how said i wouldn't see any gain with just the 866 cam the low down power is get so much quicker off the mark than standard 176 cam and it revs so much more freely

10 out of 10 for this upgrade love it and would recomend it to anyone

thanks for all the advise guys
