right its done and they are all gapped to within 0.03 of a mm but its still has the ticking so must be a flatspot on the cam oh well it goes like stink and is running great thanks for the help guys
well i think i have found the source of the tick and it looks like its the big ends and nothing to do with the cam which could be really good in a way as it will be more shinny new parts and more mess hehehehehehehehe

glad i got my point over in the end. glad you got that sorted. the only tick i can think of without it being a broken ring is the tick from the injecter.
i think me using tick to discribe the noise is wrong
its the sound that 2 metal surfices make when you bang them together i will check the big ends as i need to reseal the sump anyway so its apart so i will check them

you must have a worn cam, ticking is associated with the upper moving parts and knocking is the lower part.
do you know what the cam sounded before? can you ask?
