Technical Cinq Sporting Performance Chip

Technical Cinq Sporting Performance Chip

hello all

i have had the chip for months now and i must say it has work very well on mine. the 3k has gone and there is more pulling power after 3k. i have modified my engine and it works very well with the mods. i would really recommend it, at the price!

Mcrich i think will give you your money back if it does not work... but i really do think that option will not be nessasary.

I got one of these fitted yesterday and I really can’t recommend them enough, my car now pulls smoothly all the way through the rev range and definitely feels quicker and a bit more powerful now. And my immobiliser still works.

All in all it's probably the best £40 I have ever spent on a car and I‘ve had a few, everyone should buy one.

Thanks for sorting it out for me mckcrich. (y)

im getting mine sometime this week - i will let you know how i get on

I honestly dont think you'll regret it, they're worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Jamie, i'd be grateful to hear how it drives with the chip, i've got a 1242 in the garage when i get a few days spare and i've already got the chip but it doesn't seem to start the Sei 1108 engine very easily, so i'm hoping the 1242 will solve that problem

i just fitted the chip to the ecu - i cant believe i could do it

its very easy and the instructions are spot on (y)

i havent fitted the new ecu to the car yet, as its dark - but if its as easy as fitting the chip, i should be onto a winner :D

i will let you know the results :)

Gaz, are you fitting it in a Cinq ECU and then putting the Cinq ECU in the Sei? Let us know how it goes, i've got this same system on mine, but the car is difficult to start from cold

cheers
dave

i have just been out to test the CINQ ECU with chip and there is no noticeable difference on start up, or nothing to be concerned about

i started up the car after leaving it standing for about an hour, the engine was still warm - so i will try it on a real cold start later on in the day

mckrich - this is a techinical question for you, my new SEI ECU, had no immobilser (virgin ECU), so the CODE light was constantly flashing.

With the CINQ ECU and your chip, its a slow constant flashing, any idea as to what this might mean, i'm guessing it means the immobilser is now disabled - although i didnt have one in the first place, i hope you know what i mean

When you say hard to start from cold what do you mean? I've just tried starting my car and it doesn't want to start at all, it wants to turn over but just wont. How do you get yours going? Does it just start after a few attempts?

I don't know if it’s anything to do with this as it's been working perfectly for a few days, I just tried starting it today and it doesn't want to know.

I've just rang the RAC anyway, hopefully they can get it started.

I may put my old chip in to see if that makes any difference, as I haven't got any instructions I was wondering if there is a right or wrong way to put the chip in, anyone know?

the chip has to go in a certain way - there is a little notch on the chip and a little notch where the chip pushes into, these should be lined up, so towards the centre of the ecu

I have finally got round to sealing and fitting it to the car - i ran it in like instructed

My verdict - for the money i spent on it, I cant fault it, i really noticed the difference in 3rd/4th, it allowed me to get to 60mph+ quicker rather than the usual look at the speedo and be depressed.

The exhaust has also gone louder and the pops and bangs have become more frequent :D - im thinking these will settle down once the ECU has finally bedded in (if thats the correct word) - but i really do hope not :p

Pulling away from traffic lights and in 1st gear in general is now alot more smoother, as is the pulling away in all the other gears.

I can do 20mph in 5th without any labouring - although i guess this is not advisable.

Anyone who wants a test drive is more than welcome - i will put it back to standard chip - then change it to 'mckrich chip' - so you will be able to compare the 2, it will only be a matter off changing over ECU's and running them in for a few miles.

Michael, I hope you have read this, please use it as a testimonial, if you want too.

Anymore questions feel free to ask :)

A 100 mile review will be posted in due course

Hi, sorry I was not around yesterday to answer any queries,

Gaz, glad to hear that that the chip works ok in your car. It sounds as though you aren't having the starting problems that Dave and I experienced in the sei with the cinq ECU. What year cinq did your ECU come from.

Re Light Flashing I havn't experienced this before, it normally just comes on permanently using the chip. To stop the light you have to unplug the immobiliser box from the loom. Given the problems you have had with the New ECU I rather suspect that the immobiliser unit has a problem, maybe its the reason the garage cannot get the code into the ECU.

Giles,
Sorry to hear about your car, as your near do you want me to come over and have a look to see if I can sort the problem. and at least swap the chip over for a non immobiliser version.

Regards,

Michael
