Hi,
Just changed the alternater drive belt on my wifes cinq, but I now have severe bearing noise ( I believe its the bearings anyhow) I am not sure if its the water pump or the alternator. How can I check as Its hard to decide which it is by just listening.
Is there any way of lubricating either or both bearings whilst in situ.
She has apparently heard this noise ( nowhere near as bad as now) very slightly before but it went away quickly, and reapeared occasionaly.
Any ideas PLease.

Sorry Bandido but i am confused. But thanks for the reply.
Let me make sure that I have got this right.
The alternater belt fits around 3 pulleys 1 the crankshaft 2 the alternator 3 the water pump.
Therefore 1 belt is supplying drive to the 2 other components.
I dont see how taking off the belt will still allow the other component to be driven and therfore allow me to work out whats making the noise.
I am probably being thick so if poss could you clarify.
Thanks again

Sorry i didnt think before writing , yeah the belt will be on all three components so it wont do much good taking off the belt so yeah best bet would be a long screwdriver or bit of wooden broom handle/dell stick if you dont have the stethoscope as suggested
