Hi there does anyone know how to get access to the handbrake adjustment nut on a FIAT BRAVO 58 PLATE 1.4 if so is it under the handbrake centre console if so how do I get into it to tighten in as I cant find a way to get it open to see? Thanks Colin

Just put new pads on last night as they were right down to the metal, holds at 7 or 8 clicks which seems too far so is there an adjusting nut in the centre under the handbrake if so whats the easier way to get to it?

You get in the back seats, pull out the back cover from the bottom ( i use a 10mm wrench to slide between the carpet and the plastic, i then turn the wrench on it's side and pull on the wrench, the head of the wrench pulls on the inside of the cover ).
The cover is flexible enough to remove and put back this way. there's no need to take apart anything.

You just pull out the back cover, and you have access to tighten that screw.

A 10mm gear-wrench works best for tightening, loosening the screw. There isn't enough space for a socket.

Cheers mate thats a big help al try that later n let you know how a get on ?

Rear brakes and hand brake are self adjusting. The adjusters are not very effective. Try pressing the footbrake hard and holding it down. WHile doing this pull the hand brake on as hard as possible and release several times. Release the footbrake and then repeat the process half a dozen times, It always works for me. If you tighten the cable you will only have to release it again when you change the rear pads or they wont fit. If the cables are stretched change them but beware non Fiat cables are generally crap. Not as strong / thick and also many a very poor fit in general. The extra cost of genuine parts is worth it. Excess cable wrecked a new tyre on mine in 100 miles with a Borg and Beck cable that was a very poor fit. Changed back to Fiat parts and no problems again.

I thought the handbrake was self adjusting, just wasn't sure, thus the question about application. Good to have it confirmed!
