Hi,

Fixed a few issues with my bravo this weekend so I thought I'd share my results.

Symptom 1: loss of power, High fuel, limp mode

Engine Management Light: P0121 & P0122

Fix: changed throttle body with a second hand part £30. Cleaned second hand throttle body. Also cleaned out the L shape hose as some carbon deposits had built up on the inside bend. Then cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor as it had oily gunk around the sensor.

My car is now running a lot smoother, idles around 750rpm ,smooth engine sound, and power has been restored, can feel the turbo kick in. Total cost: £55

Will take it for a service this month to get spark plugs and oil changed along with both air and pollen filter.

Feels so good knowing infixed something myself. I got a quote from Halfords when my EML came on and they instantly were asking minimum £1100 to change the throttle body.

So yeah guys if you have an issue that doesn't need resolving quickly take the time to read up on your car and try and have a go fixing it yourself.

Things I'd like to know about or do:

1/ Where can I get spare engine cover bolts I'm missing some?

2/ Anyone want to buy an accelerator pedal with sensor? I have a spare one I didn't need.

3/ I need to change the radiator, how easy is this and is there a guide?

Its the bolts that hold down the engine cover. When i accelerate i think wind goes into the engine and pushes the engine cover up making a sqweak.

Guy at Halfrauds lost the damn bolts!

Oh and yeah the car has AC - will get the radiator done on the next service

Is an idle of 750rpm okay?

Funnily enough I was looking for bolts yesterday as I noticed my T-jet's engine cover is only held on by one since its last service and is flapping like yours. I'm pretty sure it's these:

The one I've got left says 8.8 too. I would go out and check the length but it's just too damn cold!

if your happy enough to replace the throttle body doing the plugs and oil change will be a walk in the park..
Iridium plugs should last 60,000 miles..shop around...they aint cheap at around £45 for four..

Those won't fit.
8.8 is the grade of bolt... not really an issue when holding down a piece of plastic.
The engine cover bolts are 6mm.

Just go to a DIY shop and buy some m6 bolts... not sure on the exact length, from memory it's around 40mm... so get a few different length m6 bolts: 40mm, 45mm, 50mm

You also need 2 large flat washers (m6 again).

Where is the MAS air sensor located on these engines please?

T-jets don't use a MAF.

They only use a MAP sensor on the intake manifold (and another MAP sensor, used for boost pressure on the intake pipe before the throttle body).
