Yesterday I finally managed to spend some time on my polys. One of them actually... the other is due today evening.

First I washed all well on the outside not to get messy working on it, unclipped the clips, took out all the bulbs and bulb holders, disconnected the connectors.

Then I've set the oven (kitchen oven, electric one) :yum: to 75 degrees, and placed the headlight in it. Let it roast for 10 minutes and took it out.

The "glue" became real soft and let go with no problem. I only had to pry the glass off in one place and it went off the housing pretty easily. I also took off the plastic fascia and then waited for the elements to cool off.

The next step was to unclip the aluminium frame (2 clips) and unbolt the projector. Having this done I dismantled the projector and flipped the beam stop.

In the meantime I washed the glass, the plastics and the mirrors well and dried them with (very) soft cloth. Unfortnately, high beam mirrors were old enough to flake but insignificantly and I can live with that.

Now I was ready to put everything back together. Once all parts were in place the lamp went into the oven again to soften the seal. After a while I pushed the glass tight to the housing and clipped the clips back.

That's basically IT... plain, simple and child-easy.

You can use this procedure to clean your headlights if they got foggy or dirty on the inside. All you have to look after is not to get the "glue" on the mirrors and not to scratch them.

No warpage at all. 75C is less than boiling water... and on sunny days I am pretty sure the car heats up to more than that.
