i tried adjusting my drivers door (as it is sitting a little too low)as per the haynes, i supported the door with a jack then loosened the 2 bolts on the hinges and jacked the door up and re-tightened the bolts, this made jack all difference..am i missing something?(n)

aye i never thought of that!!

what is the role of the top and bottom bolts, when they are both loose will tightening the top lift the door up and the bottom lower it down, as they both dont seem to be doing much!;)

i wouldnt have thought so as the previous owner mentioned having a new pin in at that side, how can i tell? would it move excessively?

its very common for the door stay to break (the thing that keeps the door open in certain positions), the previous owner possibly had that changed rather than the door pins. Either way you can often tell if new parts have been fitted. look for scratches or marks.

when lifting the door with a jack you should try getting it as high as you can before tightening the bolts, and jack from the handle side of the door rather than near the hinge. it will settle when you release the jack. is the door sitting low all along its length or just at the back/front?

thats the thing it isnt sagged all the way along, near to the hinge/wing theres no problem but it gradually droops along the door!

Any idea on which of the two bolts needs to be undone or both?

It's well worth checking that is bolted to the door tight as they can come undone and then they can drop inside the door... a big job compared to lifting the rubber cover and checking the two bolts are done up.

whats the best way to check this? open the door and look for excessive movement etc?:)
