iv had this problem for a while but sometimes it does seem to fix itself.

when i set off obviously i give it a little revvs to get it going but when i lift the clutch it just seem to drop as if im lifting the clutch quick without giving it gas.

and it struggles to go into gears sometimes. now i know this is my clutch, my clutch does need doing.

it runs like a diesel aswell, it feels like im driving my dad diesel

and its got a lack in performance, doesnt quite pull the way it use to. the plugs and leads arent that old. probably about 8 months.maybe 4000 miles ish.

now iv got some mechanic experience behind me and my dad has alot lol..would it be recommended that i tackle the clutch myself as it would be cheaper or should i take it to the garage to be safe?

and also what are the effects of the gear box going?

any help would be appriciated(where to get the parts cheap, things i could try)

search for previous threads containing the words "injector" "resistance" "multimeter" "ohms" and "fuel rail", that should give you all the info you need to test your injectors, i suspect one of them may have a low resistance.

difficulty selecting only one gear would be the gearbox synchromesh, difficult selecting all gears is the clutch, but if it is intermittent then it is usually the clutch hydraulics (leaking slave cylinder if brake fluid level low).

dont change your clutch unless it definately needs replacing, by that i mean if it is slipping or noisey. difficulty selecting gears is rarely a sign you need to replace the clutch.

if the gearbox goes then you dont have any gears, so the effect would be no more driving. (what an odd question :))

lol right thanks jug, the clutch is slipping, iv had my dad test it. is there anyway i can adjust the clutch to prevent it from slipping? say like just move it a little bit so it makes better contact?

yeh but i would want to replace it before it leaves me without a motor lol...

no you cant do that, its time to replace the clutch unfortunately.

replacing a clutch isnt too diffcult, its importnant that you do it correctly to ensure the clutch lasts, but a haynes manual is all you need and you'll be fine.
