Sony ericsson 902

Works fine with the Mrs' Samsung and worked fine this morning so it's for sure the SE upgrade. Have emailed their support line for either a fix for this... or a method for downgrade to a working software release. Seems they've made a significant change to the bluetooth protocol. Sometimes I can't even get my phone to pair with the car. Others it connects but won't connect again. When it does connect it sounds like a keyboard being smashed about regardless if I copy the phonebook or not.

W595's are the same here (two in two Bravos) so Fiat best come up with a quick fix. SE's are going from being the most to the least compatible phones.

Cheers Sony

Dear,

Thank you for your query regarding the Sony Ericsson C902.

Unfortunately you cant degrade the software on the handset. If you are still having problems with the handset try the following again :

We are sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your Sony Ericsson handset.
From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you update the Software on your Sony Ericsson handset. This can be done free of charge using our Sony Ericsson Update Service tool. To carry out the update you will need internet access and a USB cable.

It may be the case that user data is lost during this upgrade. We therefore recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, Memory Stick, or PC before upgrading.

Please follow the steps below to download and install the update service software:

1. Go to www.sonyericsson.com/support
2. Select UK
3. Select your model of handset
4. Click on Sony Ericsson Update Service
5. Click the link, and then click Run or Save.
6. Let the Sony Ericsson Update Service install.

Once you have installed the Sony Ericsson Update Service you will need to launch it. Once it opens simply follow the instructions that you will see on screen. The update should then begin.

In the event that this does not resolve your issue, we recommend that you send your handset to our service location to be examined by our authorised service engineers. The turnaround time for this process is currently 7-10 working days, from when the repair centre receives the handset. We offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please complete the attached repair form which includes the address to send your handset to. Place your handset in a Jiffy bag with a copy of your proof of purchase and send it via your Post Office obtaining a Proof of Postage receipt.

Please note that if the damage is not covered by the Sony Ericsson Limited Warranty, there is a fee of £10.00 + VAT to have your product returned should you not accept the estimated costs for repair.

For more information on your Sony Ericsson Limited Warranty please consult your User Guide or visit www.sonyericsson.com/support.

The Alfas have the same problem.

Eventually, perhaps, we'll have a working phone.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

I had an e-mail the other day from SE (some weeks after contacting them) telling me to, yes, upgrade the software. I pointed out that there is no update to the W595 on Three (its bespoke software) and that C905 users and upgraded C902 users were also having the same problem. Not holding my breath but you never know. I just wish I'd gone for the Samsung Soul as I originally intended and not have been too worried about the message reader.

I figure now, that if you can pair a phone and sync the address book, don't be too bothered about the 'supposed' best compatibility from SE phones as I'm sure that all new SE phones from now on will be problematic.

I wish I had found this thread 4 hours ago!! after weeks of deciding which phone and then making the decision to give up on my usual Samsung to try an SE due to the blue tooth compatiblity, I ordered a C902 this afternoon.

Why oh Why didn't I check first - probably because all other SEs get glowing reviews for use with B&M!

I wonder if I can cancel the order, I must have 7 days or something. best get onto it.

Hi Guys

Did have exactly the same problem. I just bourght the phone, C902, because of the great compability with Blue&me. The first thing i did whas upgrade the phone. ON NO.

I've just succesfully downgraded to an older firmware via wotanserver.com. It works perfectly and did only cost 7€.

My C905 works totally fine.
I upgraded it from a Nokia N95 last week, and have had it running in my GPS since Wednesday, no problems at all.
Its been used quite alot and I must say the battery isnt the best I've had, but for call quality and the likes I cant fault it.
I didnt bother trying to get the SMS reader working because I'm sending the phone back, I dont really get on with it the keypad is too small.
This ones the silver exclusive to Orange.... peeps who have had problems, have they all been the black ones??

Just a thought.....

Which version did you downgrade to?

It is blue&ME again!

Using the Davinci team website I've managed to downgrade to R3CA033 which seems to be the one to use. So far no problems and pairs with blue&me fine with no angry typewriter man!

It was reasonably easy to do, but took a couple of attempts to get it flashed correctly. Well worth the 10 euros.

I'm due for a phone upgrade and have had problems with my previous SonyEricsson phones occasionally not disconnecting properly from Blue&Me (K800, W880 & W890). My W890 also sometimes dials out using Blue&Me and then "phone active" shows on the dashboard and the sound comes through the phone. I decided to go for a Nokia but reading other people's experiences it looks like SE phones are actually the best with B&M, so now looking at a C902. I know that some of you report problems with the latest firmware so I'm prepared to flash the phone with older firmware using DaVinci or WotanServer - just wondered if those of you using C902s with the older firmware have found them to be completely problem -free with Blue & Me. Also wondered if it's all of the newer firmware that causes the problem or if it's operator specific - I'm on O2. Thanks to any of you that can give me some advice before I order the phone!

With mine you need to remember not to jump out the car as soon as you've switched off as to give the phone time to disconnect.

My only worry with a new phone (for you) is it may have the latest version of the EPROM therefore there may not be an old enough version of the firmware available.

Thanks Hellcat. Spoke to support at DaVinci who are fairly certain that a new C902 from o2 will be CID52 so downgrading shouldn't be a problem. Are you on o2? if so and if you're on a contract presumably the "o2 prepay" version of R3CA033 was the one you went for?
