My b has been in dry storage for the last 1 1/2 years, but I'm getting her back on the road again now.

I have planned the following before fireing her up:
- Oilchange (5-40 synthetic)
- Oilfilter change
- Airfilter change
- Sparkplug change
- Fuelfilter change
- Messure anti-freeze in cooling fluid and top it up
- Check brake fluid level
- Recharge battery if possible after it beeing dead for a year, or replace
- Find out how the "red-key" works, since battery has been dead :)

Anything else I should check or do?

Hi,
I would take a good look at the brakes, ceased brakes can be a problem.
Lots of rust on the disks can be a problem also.

Drain the fuel out of the car and replace it with fresh stuff.

good luck, let us know how she goes when you start her up.

Update: time to start her up:

I have done the following so far:

- Replaced oil Sump (had a leaking crack)
- New oilfilter (filled it with oil before fitting)
- New oil (5-40 synthetic)
- New Airfilter
- New Sparkplugs
- Inspected pistons through spark hole (could not see any rust)
- added a spoon of oil into each cylinder (just to be sure)
- Topped up anti-freeze in cooling fluid
- Recharged battery

When the plugs where out I re-attaced the battery and and turned on the ignition with the usual key (not the red key). Guess what? the Code lamp went out after a few seconds, so I got no immobaliser broblems :D

Then I switched the ignition on and off 4 times (without cranking) and listened to the fuel pump in the rear and the injection pump (or whatever it is that feeds fuel) in the engine bay. The first 2-3 times it sounded like the rear pump sucked air, but after the 3'rd time it sounded normal. I guess this procedure flushed the fuel lines?

Then I cranked the engine for about 10 seconds two times (with the plugs out) to get the oilpressure up. It cranked easy and nice without any strange noises. At this moment all warning lights had gone out except the oil light. So I waited 10 minutes and topped up the oil and re-fitted the spark plugs.

Then It was the moment of truth.... would she start?

Inserted key, turned on ignition waited 2-3 seconds (all warning lights went out) then cranked... and she fired on the first round :slayer:

She ran as calm and beutiful as ever before, with only some extra smoke the first minutes beacuse of the oil I filled in the cylinders, what a beutiful car

So tomorrow I will get her down from the jack-stands and go for a testdrive. But there are still a few things to fix. The cooling fluid should be replaced, and there are some bulbs etc.. that need attention.

The brakes and cambelt/variator was replaced right before she got stored so I guess they are allright, will have to check the disc's for rust after the testdrive, and I guess she deserves a set of new tires.

I must say it feels nice to have accomplished the work on the car myself, getting some variation from my office desk job, and saving a lot of cash. I guess I saved about $350 on the servicing and about $600 on fitting the oilsump.

I'm happy man tonight :p
