When the key is first turned to 'on', when all the lights on the dash light up, the pump is powered for a few seconds to build pressure. Then power is stopped.
During cranking, the pump is powered again, to maintain pressure and supply.
Once the engine fires, and the key is released, the pump will only continue to run if there is oil pressure.
There is a pump relay, probably in the underbonnet fuse box, and this is switched by the ECU.
So there will only be power at the pump under the above conditions.
Find the relay and test there. The relay has been idle during the renovations, so may have stuck.
Check for a live feed to it, ready to be switched to the pump.
Then check for a switching signal during the conditions described above, and see if the relay switches when the signal is received.
A stuck relay, or poor connections are the most likely causes.
