Tuning Induction kit (again)

Tuning Induction kit (again)

TJA: I guess you're in charge now setting up a suitable time when you provide your B to Oldschool to finish the kit (y)

Oldschool: Reading around this forum, your kit seems to be the best but I have to agree with Nino that buying one could more be describes as a "journey" rather than a "purchase"... It would be nice with a realistic date when a kit could be ready, or simple a notice that you've stopped selling them if that's the case

Old school - I am always willing to help if you need a older B to try on.

PM me if I can help. Then we can set a date next year.

No worries if not.

Merry X-Mass.

Stuff that..get a CDA from this crowd. Ship the same day.

Bugger to fit..the fitting kit consists of 1 hooped ring and 2 bolts but once its on the result is excellent. More torque, more acceleration and it seems a better fuel burn. I've got the before - after dyno readings somewhere.

Hi mate, if you do have the results I;d love to see them.:yum:

Thanks (y)

looking for some hoses... reduction 45° elbow from (maf sensor)90mm - (air intake)70mm, and some strait reduction hose from (maf) 90mm to (air filter) ??mm

anybody knows some not so expensive hose dealer? they are from 50pounds to up... :bang:

Does anyone have any fitting instructions or pics of the CDA mounted?

Fitting isn't easy...4 spanner 50 swear word job.

There are no fitting instructions at all with the kit. I ended up stripping out the mile of pipe / airbox from the Fiat fit and making up 18" of angled duct. The CDA sits between the rockerbox and the battery. In my case I had to fit a smaller 40Ah battery to make space. The cold air feed is simply 6" of flexible pipe picking up under the left headlamp.

The hard bit to manage in fitting is that the throttle body is tilted up at 45d. I also have a strut brace immediately in front..The only solution is a custom made elbow joint that goes under the brace with two bends..no other solution as space under the B bonnet for the keg sized CDA is very limited.

Small photo here.

I'll see if I still have my photo's as my B now has yet another airbox feeding the turbo unit

I agree fitting is a bit of a mare, only becaue the room is tight. I moved my battery to the boot and now the CDA kit fits perfectly.

You do have to remove the old ducting.

All worth it in the end.

Hmmm, I have the mk1 so I don't have the tilted throttle body. On the other hand I have to place the MAF somewhere.... Anyone with a mk1 that has the CDA fitted?

Yes me. PM me your e-mail address and i'll send you some pics. Vids if you want (Not those kind!)

Being honest the MAF was the pain, there is to much pipe work, so I had to move the battery from the engine bay to the boot. (y)

maybe if you put CDA to hang where old air filter was... or maybe is place between radiator and engine...

or buy someting like this:

yes, actuallny I did

Ok, but you've got the MAF inside the throttle body... I'll think I'll go for the new(?) green induction kit "Dynatwist". It looks a lot smaller than the CDA box so I think should be able to fit it exactly like the normal green induction kit, but it should be easier to feed it with cold air, and the filter looks less exposed to heat from the engine...

Now my problem is, which size should I buy? what's the diameter of the MAF - 70mm or 85mm?

as far as I remember the inlet pipe is 75mm in diameter, but i'm not sure
I have a CDA 150-85 and I did put a connector to it to change the diameter..
the best way is just to measure it..
