normally you have to give some welly to go over 14 l/100km

given that it idles at 1000 rpm, and uses a lot of fuel (and possibly lacks power/response when driving) i would have a guess that some temp sensor is faulty (or not connected) which keeps the ECU thinking that the engine is running cold and thus gives some "choke".

hello,

i have a question...

i hear that diesel sound in 80% cases when starting the engine (cold) and just for 3 sec.

could be something that i could to do without changing the variator?

thanks

Nope, the 'rattle' in the variator when the engine starts is down to a lack of oil inside it, once the pressure is up it goes away - you need to worry when it sounds like it all the time.........a rattle for a couple of seconds on startup is normal.

Mmmm, not so sure LRB. Mine never used to rattle on startup at all but it has done it the odd time recently for a few seconds and is soon due a cambelt [and variator] change.

Re: Barchetta problems

Trust me there is a difference! When I first bought my b there was a slight rattle on startup for a couple of seconds and then went, performance was fine and fuel economy was ok. Earlier this year I noticed a significant drop in fuel economy and a lack of performance coupled with a permanent rattle from the variator!

I had the variator changed and all is fine again, there is no rattle on startup but I expect it to return in the future as the variator wears!

The most telling sign that the variator is stuck is when performance dips and the fuel economy becomes that of a V8!! (coupled with a perm rattle regardless of rev's)....

Re: Barchetta problems

the performance it's ok... the fuel consumption i don't know... here the traffic it's ****ed up... medium speed 10km/h sometimes i use only the 1st and the 2nd gear... and in this condition, the car takes 13-14 l/100km so for me it's ok.

i will change the variator next year cause now i just changed the cambelt and the rolls. i still have to change the alternator belt but i'll do it next year.

btw... anyone of you know how to repair a seat belt? it retracts only if i help it and i hate that.

It's a pain that the authorities can't find better things to do but as it's only 30 just pay up, buy an new plate and put it down to experience.

To put a picture next to your name, click on 'Get Your Own Title, donate some dosh to the site and then put your title and picture on. Given your user name goodness knows what picture you will be putting on! However you might not want to do that having forked out the aforesaid 30.

Re: Barchetta problems

Hello and welcome to the forum beeverliquor

I must get my number plate sorted, apparently there is a drive to get people with illegal number plates at the moment - I guess the government have to figure out a way to generate more revenue to plug the hole in the economy!!

BTW, like your gallery piccies - took me a couple of mins to realise that you had a blue b!!
