Hi all

A collegue of mine is lodging with a lady who has a barchetta. Anyway she has gone away and left him with the key to her b so he could move it to get his motor bike out of the garage. He has come in today asking for urgent advice because he has gone and snapped it in the ignition! He has got the key out, but he says when she left it she said it was her only key. It is the one that has a round end, silver with a blue bit on it.
If this is her only key and she doesn't have the red key what is he going to do??
Anyone

For his sake I am hoping that she has the red key stashed somewhere ...

He feels more terrible now I've told him he can't just get it copied! Is that the only way if there is no card or red key? Replace the ignition system - that will cost him a packet!

Will that work? I thought all new keys had to be programmed by the red key? Maybe a key shop could attach a new cut key to the bit with the chip in it?

When i was first looking for a B, A guy selling a nice clean red one had no Red key, and only one blue, so i was a litlle worried hearing about this red key story and the cost should one lose this only key, told the fellow and decided to leave it.

A few days later the fellow calls me and say's he has managed to cut three more keys from the blue and that they all are working fine.

This was done from a mobile key station and reasonly cheap too.

I never bought the car but believe he must have done so as to call me back.

Get a new metal key cut from the old broken bits. Use it to start the car whilst holding the blue part of the old key (the part with the transponder in it) as close as possible to the ignition barrel. At least your friend can get his bike out then.

Dave.

Hi

You can get a key cut and if you take the code box from the car with you[it is located under the streeing wheel on the right] the code can be read and a knew key made. Had this done in Pontypridd and also had a red key cut as I had no master key. It cost me for the 2 keys £130. Cheap.:):)

If you are stuck he does mail order. Let me know and will digg number out
