What towbar would be easiest to fit my barchetta? Are the Punto and barchetta identical in the rear, or wouldn't a Punto towbar fit? The rear bumpers are of course different, but what about the metal?

I have an idea.. :D

I'm afraid I can't help, but I can say that you need to be careful about overloading as I found it knackered my shocks even though I was within the 500kg or whatever it says it can carry.

500kg? She can drag 450kg, but only 35kg load on the towbar. I'm thinking about 300kg, and within the 35kgs.

That's what I'm trying to figure out - where I can fit one. I don't want a towbar that shows, ofc. It has to be detachable.

And what's with the "no no no"? We can't all have the same barchettas you know. ;) I can guarantee it will be nice when(/if) I'm finished with my idea.

It has been done before!

Even if the towball is detachable the wiring unit etc isn't so will still be unsightly and if tucked under the bumper will get full of crud and eventually knacker your wiring....I know it's been done before, the last person asking got the same response :)

If you look at some websites it states that the Punto and Barchetta are unsuitable for towing. Personally I don't believe that, but in the Barchetta's case hope it's so...

Just to clarify on the weight side. I think we had a combined weight of 170kg, (no comments) and I had 5 x 40kg sacks of cement in the boot. So, that's 370kg.

It drove OK, but on very bumpy roads it felt like it may be bottoming on the suspension stops. The car was 9 years old at that point and the next "MOT" said the shocks were on the limit. I'm not sure if the cement caused it, or it was going anyway.

On the other hand we went camping in the South of France and with a full boot, cases on the rack and things stuffed down the back of the chairs it drove fine.

If I really had to tow, I would not do it with my B. I can't even imagine it. Do you need to tow regularly or just a one off - could you borrow a vehicle with tow?

Ofc I can borrow a vehicle to tow with, but that just not the same. I want bee. ;)

My idea is to make a tiny teardrop caravan, paint it rosso speed, barchetta rear lights, same stripe as on my bee, try to pick up some of the lines from bee. -make it look good- Most trackdays are far from where I live, so to be able to drive bee to the track, park the little teardrop on the parking lot and take bee for a spin is tempting. :D Would keep it as small as possible, perhaps around 1,5 x 2,5 m. Have to see what looks best.

Shocks are going to be upgraded soon. Can't decide if I'm going for coilovers or Bilstein/H&R.

Good luck - I think that could look seriously cool(y)

But then I like the luggage rack and nobody else seems to get that:rolleyes:

Why do I get the feeling you're inspired by the Autofil Suzuki Swift...;)

Btw., I have some spare rear lights (fog and reverse) for the B if you want them.
