Technical My strutbrace does not fit

Further to this discussion I have just noticed damage to the underside of my bonnet with the omp SB from strutbracer. There are dents on iether side of the bonnet which obviously have occuerd when closing the bonnet. Luckerly no damage has been done to the top of the bonnet.
When fitting the SB no washers were used or any spacers of any kind. BEWEAR!!!!!!!

I have at last today resolved the problem with my omp none ABS strutbrace. After letting a couple of engineers look at the problem, they decided it was a simple matter of cutting the end off, turning the bar thru 180 deg and welding it back on. Quite obviouse really. Total cost £5.00 I will post some pics later so you can see exactly what we have done.

The other way to do it is surgery to the rubber air intake hose. I took it off, trimmed it down and refitted it. Not perfect but less kinked than before.

Ooh! My Barchetta has a kinky air intake..stuff that in your Corsa and smoke it!

This I think will only work on none ABS b`s. The engineers also said that what I thought was damage to the underside of the bonnet, was`nt, the indentations were to perfect and was probably done at the factory with a strutbrace in mind.

The only thing you have to watch for when cutting the SB is to cut it as straight as possible, (as picture) or when the bar is turned thru 180deg the gap will double and welding will be differcult. We had a gap of about 1/8th inch which was easy to fill when welding. Good luck
