I have a lovely bright Yellow OMP strut brace sat in my garage, however the top suspenson mount bolt head which I need to remove to fit said item is rounded off! And I mean badly rounded.

I have tried hammering on a (imperial) smaller socket and everything else I know. Before I grind it off or use a hardcore nut extractor (ouch!) I need to know what this bolt screws into under the wing? Is it the top of the damper or a coil spring mounting bracket?

Cheers in advance

If you feel like giving it away for free in sheer frustration I'm your man :D

Copious ammounts of WD40 over 48 hrs then use if you can get hold of one a spanner that is shaped like a plumbers which tightens onto the nut the harder you pull but has smaller teeth I could post a pic of one easier than trying to describe it  I'll just see if i can find it.....

*There you go*.....they are brilliant for rounded nuts

Cheers guys.
A larger hammer and more bf (brutus forceus) required methinks....:slayer:

:D

If you have rusty nuts I am your man!!!

When I had the problems removing the bolts from my manifold a friend (who has restored an MGB bolt by bolt and so has more rusty nuts than me), showed me a good 'top-tip'.

Rather than fighting with a set of pipe grips take a file to the nut head, square it off and use an adjustable spanner on it - works a treat and is much easier than wrestling with a monkey wrench!!

Oh, and the bolt is one of two retaining bolts that holds the shock assembly in place.

And be careful with the intake pipe under the strut brace. Easy to damage it when fitting ( I was that soldier).

Definately a weekend job this one. I'll let you know how it goes..

Then its an engine oil flush and rear brake pads. :yuck:

Make sure you get the tool for winding in the pistons on the rear callipers, don't try doing it with a pair of pliers as you will bugger up the seals!

If you don't have the tool you can buy one from Halfrauds for about a tenner..........

Anyone heard of these http://www.jom.de/Domstreben-14-8871.html ?
look at price.. can someone translate that to english?

a-la babel fish......

I'm sure I've seen them on eBay.de for 29 euros - probably not Sparco ones though. I worked out that with postage to the UK and the current exchange rate it'd be about £35 total. I'll see if I can dig out the eBay link.
