Hi, I’ve just bought a used 500x and can’t use Uconnect as when I try to pair my phone it says the car is associated with another user and I need to get permission.

Can anyone offer any advice as to how I can remove the previous owner?

Sounds like a phone call to Customer Services. Not heard that one before, it should be possible to pair multiple phones

Good luck, they only deal with frontline calls at weekends!!
You will probably get passed about various Claims / Complaints Managers who don’t know much about uConnect & rarely return calls.
If u get anywhere please let me know cos it’s been 3 months and still no connection to live Services though I have uConnect live apparently?!?

I think I'm currently at the end of week 3, waiting to be told how to update the uConnect firmware. Their first suggestion simply did not work, then discovered they had closed my 'case' before I had updated them. Re-opened with new ref number, passed to a different department then Nada.

If I onew how to avoid losing any of the menu functions I would go for an aftermarket unit at the blink of an eye. I have seen the connector that is necessary but not 100% sure it retains all settings and hands-free options

I would have thought you could go into settings and delete all paired phones. Then start again with your phone. I have two phones paired ,with my phone as default and my wife’s as second.

This sounds more to do with the Uconnect account the car is paired to and not the phones paired to the car itself.
I had mine reset a while ago through customer services, takes about an hour from what I remember.

Thanks for all the advice. I called my local Fiat dealer and they said customer services would need proof of ownership (copy of driving licence, log book) and that it probably wasn’t worth the hassle just to get my twitter feed in the car. Is there more to Uconnect than this?

Depends on your needs, I guess. Receiving phone calls and streaming Spotify audio are essential for me. I most certainly would be willing to hassle for those.

For some reason, after years of not using uconnect (as it was regularly annoying to the extreme) I've decided to try it again and see if anything has improved. Plus attempt to see if I can do any firmware update and/or software updates it might benefit from.

failed at the first hurdle, cant even login to my uconnect account - since it looks like I originally used facebook to login, and the uconnect app claims that is disabled ? Ive tried just creating another account but run into the OP problem here - my car is associated to my facebook uconnect account.

call customer support - one ring then hangup.

I found a uconnect site with a chat function - got through to a real human it seems, who then told me this was a US support site and id have to go to the EU version - cant see a chat there - same phone number that hangs up, some mention of twitter support so Ive had to dig out my ages old twitter account details and change passwords to get into that just to try and contact fiat .

Funnily enough I had all these types of frustrating problems like 4 years ago when I last used the app, worrying that they have not tidied up their systems.

I have/has a uConnect account but have never tried to use or setup uConnect on my 500X. When I got the car new in 2015 there was nothing of value/interest on the uConnect. As I recall all there basically was was some drive style monitoring app. I do'nt need an App to tell me how to drive etc.

Since 2015 then maybe the uConnect services/offerings have improved?

As long as the uConnect vehicle system menus, Sat Nav and phone work then for me that is all I need. There would have to be a real killer app to temp me to go through all the hassle people have had trying to get uConnect to work correctly.
