My gentle and humble observation of tyres.

The like of Fiat (read all other mfgs) can buy production job lots of premium brand tyres for next to nothing compared to the same tyre in aftermarket when required purchase requirements.

So called medium / budget brands never get a look in because the vehicle manufacturer only wants to be associated with a "big name" even if they are possibly *rap in certain deployments.

It falls on us more budget conscious, non lemming consumers to seek out the potentially better cost/performance/etc tyre options that meet our personal requirements.

Korean tyres are the best bet for mid-range quality value... Nexen Kumho Hankook.

Yes, had Nexens on an old MX-5 a couple of years ago and they were fine. I remember a workmate changing his "premium" tyres for Kumhos a few years ago, and he said they gripped just as well but were much quieter. Lots of sub-types from each manufacturer of course, so risky to make generalisations.

I replaced my fronts with Avon’s the first time and now replaced them with Hankooks. Have to say the Hankooks seem as good ...I now have them all round.....[emoji106]
