Hi all,
My car was serviced last week, when I also presented a long list of issues. I'll update on these when they are resolved. Two of these were start/stop not working and problems with the 6.5in uconnect. So the upshot of this was the 'intelligent battery sensor' is being replaced and this is now on order. The uconnect unit was also updated. Their vehicle report also stated that the battery charge was just 12.3v in spite of daily use of 12 miles with just 2 engine starts.
Well, today the car is completely dead bar the odd message on the dash and the central locking sometimes working.
I was half expecting this as I have had concerns about the battery anyway as it was struggling on really cold mornings. But the garage didn't respond to this as an issue, even though they noted the low charge and recommended a charge.
However the main reason I was expecting it was because the uconnect has started staying illuminated for a couple of minutes after the car has been switched off and then it would appear to shut down with a split second flash of the screen every second or so. So it seems that I have been given an update to the battery draining version I've been reading about. This coupled with the dud battery kind of makes sense to me.
As my car's due back at the dealer in a week or so, I left it because it would still be used every day.
So now I'm seeing what ciao FIAT is all about!
Oddly, this is I think my 8th or 9th car and second FIAT. Yet of all these cars with all of their faults over the years, it's only the FIATs that have ever failed to start. My Grande Punto failed 3 times - once on Christmas Eve, once on the morning I was driving to France and once for work. At least all I was doing today was going to Argos!
I'm not moaning about FIATs by the way as I still love my car. This was just an observation.
