I shall assume my car had one at some point I’ve just ordered one and the fixings hopefully it’s an easy installation
I believe there are holes in the subframe and the bottom of the front panel has holes where brackets on the cover screw into.

You could always use some fiber glass mat between the two?metal cover came today and surprisingly it was quite an easy fit! unfortunately when I started the car I was getting some vibrations....
every bolt was tighter than tight so was at a loss!
crawled under car again with my torch as spotted a exhaust bracket that as fitted when my flexi was replaced is touching the metal.....
sooooo had to remove it again till I can go get some washers im going to try and drop the cover just enough so the exhaust bracket is not touching....and hopefully that will solve the problem.... if not?!!!!
maybe but I think it would still be a problem and I don't want to risk any sort of damage to the exhaust pipe ect…You could always use some fiber glass mat between the two?

they obviously don't take into account the joining bracket (if you have had exhaust work) when fabricating the covernot sure if I can loosen the bracket and rotate then tighten back up?? failing that its back to the washers idea! only need a tiny bit of space to stop bracket touching
yes its the clamp where they joined the new exhaust flexi to the cat pipe can you not move that? if it has to be cut off and replaced ill prob just try the washersIs that the exhaust clamp? if need be cut it off and replace turned round?
Should be able to unbolt it and spin it around if it's quite new assuming there space to log it around anywayyes its the clamp where they joined the new exhaust flexi to the cat pipe can you not move that? if it has to be cut off and replaced ill prob just try the washers
yes its only 2 months old, ill give that a try in the morning! all being well I can spin it enough tighten and hopefully it wont touch the coverShould be able to unbolt it and spin it around if it's quite new assuming there space to log it around anyway
It’s quite heavy! I had to shimmy on my back then pull the cover over myself like a blanket!! Hold it up with one hand and hand tight each boltHow heavy is the cover ? The plastic ones are bad enough to hold up until at least 2 screws are in.
very good point! I never thought of the temp... I guess ill monitor and see if anything changes ie engine tempI’d be wary of reducing the airflow though the engine bay with a cover unless it had good outflow at the right places.
The twinair gets one due to its noise, the 1.2 doesn’t need it.
Though ultimately Fiat add gadgets and remove things like speakers and underbonnet insulation based on cost so it would be interesting to see whether you get issues during the summer but I guess like cars of old you could fit it in the winter like the old radiator covers.

Managed to rotate the clamp slightly... not much room due to sump so could only move it a fraction luckily just enough!! It’s no longer touching the guard so no
vibration as per pic you can see where the clamp was on the guard!
What does it look like? I didn’t see another clamp in that location!? Would it be near the cat or am I in the wrong area?Out of interest, is the clamp at the front off the gearbox/engine still in one piece, that supports the down pipe ours had rusted clean away had to make a new one, it helps stop stressing the cat etc.
Yes that’s true, if they’re in the right place. No way of knowing if you fit one that’s aftermarket without checking pressure gauges in the right places and you can end up with too much cooling. That’s why some modern cars have the active shutters over the radiator.Actually udertrays can lower the heat apparently, I’m led to believe that if done properly it causes a tunnel effect to the air flow forcing more air through the radiator in turn a better cooling effect.
It’s basically a flat tray it only curves up at the front end (bumper) there is space either sideAye indeed. By the photos I don’t think there will be a problem, hard to tell as they are dark, but it looks like plenty of space either side of the tray. Heat has never been a problem up here...
