Hi again all,

Have to change the main battery on the 500S. Bought a proper AGM one as original for the stop/start function. Yikes they are expensive.

Question is will I lose any programming on Blue Me paired items, and will I lose the radio as not sure I have the security code if it has one.

Or is it just better to work with some wiring from another 12v supply to keep circuits live supplied while changing over main battery.

I have been told to ask these questions on the forum so hope they don't sound stupid.

You should no have to do anything on the connection

Radio code is stored in the body computer so as long as it's the original radio it will not need a code
You will data from trip computer e.g avarage mpg

Phone should stay pared as far as I remember when itook the battery off mine

Hi :)

Yes the 'cars own kit' should be fine
Radio..B+M ECUs etc

The radio will probably lose its presets for chosen stations though.. and yes stored mileage : mpg etc may well be lost

There is the option of feeding 12volts through the cig socket.. but Ive never bothered

Out of intetest what did you pay for the battery ?
last I heard £120 from FIAT.. £75 Aftermarket
Somehow my 2012 battery is still doing its job.. :)

Hi,

Once again thanks for the rapid responses.

Batteries are the pain of my life especially rechargeable ones.

Yes some of the replacement ones I searched on were up to £180. I never thought of asking the dealers as just assumed they would be silly price.

Did find it very hard to find the right code for the battery some quoting 012 and 027 but finally found I think it is 075 exact same measurments and posts in correct orientation.

Priced at £77.95 next day free deliver (caveat maybe delayed due to current COVID issues) and yes still not arrived but purchease acknowledged.

It is the stop/start function that makes it a special one otherwise would have been a lot cheaper for a standard battery.

Current battery just died overnight.......won't even take a charge. It did jump start though so happy it is not a bad wiring/earth issue.

'Hacky' my work partner says he will check for parasitic drain after fitting a new battery just in case:yuck:..... I said that would be a good idea as we do have a lot of mice that eat away the odd electric wires (downside of living in the country)........he looked at me a bit confused:(

Farrah:(

So don't the 500's need to be programmed to "recognize" that a new battery has been fitted. I know my Ibiza does otherwise overcharging with associated battery damage over time, may occur. It's all tied in with the regenerative charging system I believe.
Nope it's just a simple sensor the monitor voltage so should pick new battery up straight away
