I've received a PM about a drivers door handle where the rod keeps falling out and the door not locking, I've suggested using cable tie around the mechanism keeping the rod in place. I can't send images on PMs so I've started this thread instead.

Whenever these plastic clasps get disturbed it always seems that the rods will never stay in place. The opening and closing of the door and the activation of the handle makes it pop out. It just doesn't grip it properly.

I've remedied this many times by putting a cable tie around it to hold it in place. If you get it in the right place like shown in the photos, it will not foul the mechanism and allows smooth operation and stops the rod from falling out. It always seems to be the top rod on the handle itself in the white clasp, the blue and red ones seem OK and they have little arms that fold across helping to keep it in place whereas the top ones don't.

The photos don't show a rod in place but show exactly where you need to put the cable tie so it doesn't slip off. The tie I've used is probably a bit thick but you get the idea.

Hope this helps
